I picked a beat up version of one of these at a pawnshop several years back for $15. I brought it home tore it apart. Refinished the wood stock and gave it a polish and tune. It came out amazing! You gotta love a garage sale find. You can pick up some really great deals. Especially on springers because so many folks can't, or won't take the time to learn how to shoot one correctly. Often times they figure "if it don't handle like my 10/22..." it langishes in a closet for the rest of its days. Or till garage sale day. That's when airgunners swoop in like vultures...

First serious airgun for me was 2018 Benjamin Trail NP XL .22. Visited airgunning neighbor for suggestions with armadillo problem, ended up buying for $25. Neighbor said too heavy, hard to cock with no accuracy, was glad to be rid of. Good cleaning, trigger modification, learning "artillery" hold and finding preferred pellet led to decent 25-yard groups. Hits hard but 27-pound cocking effort gets old fast. XL has 27mm nitro piston while standard is 25mm, think less is better, in this case. Best of Luck, WM

Good deal there. The original NP guns have a 25mm piston, at full power in .22cal expect to shoot at 700 to 740fps with 14.3gr pellets. The model code of BT9M22SNP on barrel block reads: Benjamin Trail 9M(900fps w/ alloy) 22(Caliber) Synthetic(stock) Nitro Piston.

Semi-interesting tidbit for those who run across these used in various shops or other sales... There were various non-shrouded models of Crosman/Benji guns made for the Canadian market with a "5M" designation, which were (sub)500fps guns. For a while Illinois was limited to 700fps max and .177 caliber, those had 7M in their code if I remember correctly. Full power .177's get a 1K code. At one point a few .22's came with an 8M code, they make same/similar power to the 9M guns as far as I know (possibly older and not tested with alloy pellets?). Of course, take this with a grain of salt as not all models of Crosman/Benji B18/B19 models were labeled this way but this can assist identifying if you're holding a full power model or not.

I paid over ten times that for mine. Found it hard to keep scopes on it.
Ya, hence my thing on I never buy a gun without factory irons / open sights ..

Buying a gun without sights is like buying a car with no steering wheel..lol.

With sights on the gun your still shooting it on them not wishing you could adding a scope to cart "again" ..lol

I’ve had one for years. Quite a fine piece in my opinion. Once you get your hold down it is very accurate. Little bit heavy but well worth the effort.Hope it works well for you.👍😉
it shoots very good, and the scope is good actually wasn't expecting to see chp 14g go 830- 845 fps
this is a Suprise one pump and pretty accurate at 30 yds
yes, it's a little heavy and long but its nicer than i expected has an adjustable trigger too this is pretty cool its a keeper.
