Hello,

I'm new to air guns in general. Which of the two pistols would you recommend for killing small pest such as mice?

My experience-stay away from the Benjamin trail! It's a piece of junk (at least the one I have) and is too light to even make a good door stop. The P-17 is a great value and accurate and easy to shoot, though not a powerful gun. It would be great for mice and maybe close range rats.

I had one of these a few years back and they are huge, not great quality IMO, I gave it away. The P-17 looks pretty neat, will add it to my collection..

The Trail and the P-17 are really not comparable. One is a reasonable powerful gas piston and the other a single pump low power target/plinking pistol. A Crosman 1377 or 1322 multiple pump might cover both spectrums depending on the number of pumps.

I will second the recommendation on the 1377 or 1322 pump up pistols-you get a fair bit of power out of them and they're accurate and easy to shoot well. The optional shoulder stock turns them into a nice short carbine if you do a lot of offhand shooting. There are a lot of mods out there for the 13xx platform as well.
