Best 1K budget 22 or 25 PCP.

Hi all!

I am new to the forum and semi new to PCP rifles. I currently have a 22 caliber marauder I shoot and want to upgrade to a new gun. I am selling the marauder to help fund the budget for the new gun. I've looked at the FX Dreamline almost exclusively but not set on that gun. My budget is 1K to 1.25K. There's a lot of options out there but I have no idea which to look at and which to pass over. Obviously, I want an accurate gun. I get the accuracy as I build guns and ones that shoot well over 1K yards. I'm a machinist and don't mind tinkering or building things so I would be open to tunable rifles. I would like to get the rifle in the budget listed above but would add options in the future if it looks like a good idea. Should I look at other companies or models? I wouldn't be opposed to used as well but have no idea what to look for in a used gun.

Thoughts?

I would 100% agree with ranchibi. There are lots of deals on used stuff that will be awesome in the price range you are looking.

Almost all my stuff has been purchased used. A lot of the time with issues like leaks or scratches to get the price down. I always end up breaking everything down for cleaning an service anyway.

I do have a dream lite compact. Great rifle. Being the compact the shot count is a bit low giving 36 shots, two mags, on a fill.

IF you like to tinker then FX has some great guns ,that said , your gun is very capable of 50 or 75 or more yardages
AND there are a ton of mod's for it . you are a machinist would it be fun to make the gun you have perform the way you want it to ?
Although it might just end costing the same as another gun .

I wish my Synrod was that accurate. Ive tried about 8 different pellets and the best i can do is 1.25 at 50 yards. I like the thought of changing barrels like the FX. I thought about buying a lothar walther barrel and fitting it up to the marauder but i decided to step up.

Have you looked into the various web sites ?
They show pictures and have details of the guns they sell.

YOU want a new gun (why would it be an UPGRADE, it would just be...new !), decide the style, decide between your .22 or .25, narrow that down. Then pick a gun.
Afterall...you will be owning, shooting, caring for this new gun. Sounds reasonable that YOU...should do the picking.

If you need more info, Youtube is...full...of videos on just about every gun currently manufactured, and many older models.

I figured I would have some more money in it and maybe not as much as an FX but time is also valued too. If I can get one capable and just tune.... Thats more to my liking.

For your budget, if buying new, dreamline in your flavor would be the way to go. Modular, tuneable, lots of aftermarket, and super accurate and smooth shooting.
if you don’t mind used, like others have said, your options will open up substantially. I’ve seen lots of high quality guns in the classifieds for your budget, and ALL are very capable of doing what you want as long as it’s what YOU want. Nobody else can make a decision for you, just give you options. Good luck, and welcome!

If you like to tinker and want to save some money you might try a P35 or Stoeger Bullshark (they are about the same). About half your budget new. I have 3 P35s. I haven't shot them at 40 or 50 yards yet but my P35-22 has shot a 195 on the 30 yard challenge. The best I've done with the P35-177 is a 187. The 25 caliber is not as accurate. But you could put another barrel on it if you get a "bad" one and probably still have less than $1000 in it. The 25 will put three in 1/4 inch at 25 yards and has killed 18 squirrels so far. They are regulated short and light bullpups. I have not owned or shot a Marauder but I have a Prod (marauder pistol) and I think the technology is similar. I like my Prod but I like my regulated P35s more. The trigger will need adjustment but that is simple. The stock baffles in the shroud are not great but you can get a good moderator you can put in the shroud from other members for a few dollars.
