Best 22 moderator

What are you putting it on? Some do better on the barrel, and some do better on a shroud. And how much power, at least in the ballpark?
Power under 40fpe as for shroud or barrel I would say both everything from my pride and joy stormrider to my new barra 250z I like to mix and match all of my moderators to all of my pcps and even some of my pump guns

I am a little over the top about my guns being as quiet as possible. My700mm impact at 55 ft lbs in 22 is just hammer on valve noise with a shroud and a ronin on it. I do a lot urban hunting and don't need Karen to look my way. Donny FL fx, or donny ronin, and sumo are the only ones I have any right to speak to. My others are all home brew or printed.

Any of the 3 donny mentioned will work for your power range Imho.

Here is a great read on another forum. It may be on here somewhere too, but I have this link handy: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=182738.0

I do have a couple of the Huma Mod 40 units and find them to be very good - better than than the DonnyFL Tatsu I also have, and on par with a Hugget Mini Magna I also have. The Huma's are great in that they are modular, so you can change the length to suit the amount of dampening you need. I will say both of mine are the older style with the felt inserts vs. the new plastic insert "Avalanche" units - I did buy an Avalanche insert to try in mine and I did not find it as quiet as the rolled up felt, at least on my guns which all have shrouds.

I suggested a new maker in an earlier thread.
Sonus. I have three of them now. I dumped DFL almost two years ago when I found Impulse Air mods. I won a Sonus at a local shoot for my 30 Panthera Compact hunter. I was so happy with the way it worked on that compact 30 that I now have two more on other guns. Superb product.

Ah, there it is again, that..."BEST" question again !

There are as many BEST mufflers...as there are people shooting !
It depends on the pellet speed, the barrel length, and even the weight of the pellet / slug...so, you want to rephrase the question into a little more detail, and add a word more like "preference", than...best ?

I've got a DFL Tatsu, DFL Tanto and a BuckRail modular moderator. If I were to buy another moderator for a .22 or .177, I'd hit the BuckRail again. My DreamTac is pretty loud at hunting power and the BR Mod is (to my ears at least) quieter than the DFLs I own. At less than half the price. They are 3D printed, so I'd go a different route on a big bore or high power gun, but at modest power, the BuckRail is a great deal.
