Best Air Rifle Under $200 ????

The new Benjamin Maximus is coming out right at $200 for the gun only. It's the cheapest PCP, along with the Benjamin Discovery, on the market today. It'll be available June 10 according to Pyramydair's website. I have owned two Gamo break barrel rifles and both are collecting dust. I wasted about $300+ on them thinking they'd be accurate and easy to shoot - wrong wrong wrong. So don't make the mistake I made and buy them. If you still don't have the money for the gun, scope, ammo, and pump, I'd suggest saving money to get a PCP rather than burning $200 dollars on a big-box store break barrel and be disappointed and out $200.

That being said, if you're still wanting to buy something right now, the only gun I'd suggest buying for under $200 that'll likely outlive you would be a Benjamin 392 multi-pump. I own two of those. Great guns you can pass on to your grandkids one day. Fairly accurate and easy to shoot. They'll run you around $150 depending where you buy.

There's a very high percentage chance that you'll end up with a PCP, so it might be best to do it now. Benjamin Maximus, pump and decent scope will be $450 - $500. If you can do it, do it now.

If you must stat below $200 for the whole package, the Benjamin 392 is the way to go. It's got iron sites, so no need for a scope. Pretty accurate. Well made.

Don't buy a cheap Gamo or other cheap brand springer.

Welcome to the forum and to this sport.

EXACTLY!!!

When anyone talks about buying an airgun under $200, about the only choice (if you want accuracy) is a pumper. Benjamin makes both a .177 (397) and a .22 (392). Put scope on one (about $25 for the mount, and about $125 for the scope), and you can hold half inch groups at 25 years all day!

Yes, yes, yes! I know it isn't a PCP, but no PCP sells for under $200 along with a cheap way to refill it!

I gotta agree with most of the opinions.
=> If you can get a PCP, buy one! The Maximus or Disco is a good start!
=> If you don't mind a pumper, look for a used Blue or Silver Streak ... I have Bluestreak from the mid 70's... still shoots awesome!
=> For springers, look for the lighting deals at AGD. I picked up an RWS 34p for about that price. Get on their mailing list. It's a good gun
Good Luck & Happy Shooting!
