Best All-Around PCP .22 Rifle for $300+/-

I'm looking to buy my first pcp and and am still trying to figure out what price range gun to buy as my first.

Just remember, buying your first PCP is a little more about you than it is about the gun. When guys post topics like this, they are nearly impossible to answer but some of us, maybe because we are bored with all the other topics, try to answer. Without actually knowing the guy asking the question, there is no way to know what gun would suit his skill set. No matter what kind of gun a person wants, there are alway several in that category to choose from. If you’re the type of guy who can’t stop watching videos and is always chasing something, this is going to get expensive. The guy who just wants to shoot what he bought, like a powder burner guy, has to really do his homework. Those guns are out there but you are still not going to like something about them. One thing I can say with absolute certainty is there is no perfect PCP. In any category. If you’re not picky, happiness is obtainable.

Just ordered one of these BSA Buccaneer rifles from the eBay guy. Since I never had issues with any of the Gamo springers I owned, I thought I would take a chance with this.

Considered the Air Venturi Avenger first until I saw a video yesterday with a guy breaking one down and saw how SMALL the barrel is inside the tube/shroud. It would not take much to bend or distort something that diameter, throwing the accuracy all off. No amount of regulator adjusting would compensate for that. The BSA barrel - on the other hand - looks pretty beefy.

Not sure how much to trust some of these video "reviews" as there could be a bit of bias due to non-disclosed endorsement by a certain gun company - especially if the reviewer receives a free rifle. Anyway, I will see how it goes with the Buccaneer.

Yeah I kind of hate these pcp barrels. They shift and poi changes. Drives me insane. My hydra just did it today. The shroud came slightly loose which meant the nut on the barrel was loose and that caused it to shoot all over. With the gamo/bsa make sure you keep and eye on the barrel band and that it stays tight as that barrel can shift slightly too. Never had this issue on any powder burners. Had it to some degree on every pcp I’ve had. Beyond annoying.

Yeah I hate it when something unscrews my shroud, crawls inside and bends my barrel. I just have to throw the gun away since I don't have 10 minutes to waste removing a couple of screws to replace the barrel. You should read all the threads about that happening. I have no dog in this hunt just making a funny.

Whatever man it’s a thing. Don’t have point of impact changes ever in powder burning guns. Not once in my life. Maybe it’s just the low end pcp market but these things do that occasionally . Both my gamo urban and hatsan flash have done it to me more than once. Yeah it takes two minutes to fix and then a cpl to re zero that doesn’t mean it isn’t a PIA.

Having A regulated gun makes for better accuracy and shot to shot consistency when it come to pellet speeds. Yes there are a bit more orings to deal with but not every regulated gun is super complicated.
The benjamin fortitude 2 mite be a good rifle for you to learn the basics when it comes to regulated guns as its not all that complicated to take apart and put back togther. Power is also easily adjusted via the hammer spring. Good luck i hope you find what your looking for and have better luck with QC. It always suks when we soend our hard earned money on a pcp for it to fail.
