Best Emergency Air Gun

None. You grab your 12 gauge or a pistol if you want to stay inconspicuous. You hope and pray your airguns are ok after a catastrophe. This is what happened during the fires. I grabbed my 9mm pistol and that’s it. No leaks just plain reliable.
I was going to see how you were. We are a mild drive apart. I second your thoughts, im not relying on orings.

Glad you're okay Mike.

As for an airgun in SHTF. I'd say a crosman 1322 in carbine format ONLY so you have a quiet and handy food getter. A pack of seals and a small set of tools is all you'd need to keep it going for a long time.

Or course a 22lr would work just as well, and also be able to deter/stop anything with 2 legs as well.

Thank you yeah a .22 LR would be good too

For shtf problems I generally plan for different concerns. If I need to get food it would be a break barrel or a .22lr. For protection it would be a .45 or 9mm. Actually this is something I need to consider as we are traveling north from Alabama into a snow storm next week. I normally carry a backpack with food, water, fire starting items, a good knife or two if I’m going more than a few hundred miles.

If it were for true survival, only 2 types of weapons that fire ammo I feel would be ok.

Flintlock firearm. You can cast ammo and you can make black powder.

I shoot antique 44-40 guns and load black powder for them, but cases do not last "forever" they will eventually split.

If it must be an airgun. An old one that you can do the same, cast round balls and make leather seals.

Nothing I can think of that is modern would be easy to get ammo for, or keep it going..seals, ammo issues, caps, brass, etc.

If it is a temporary situation. All sorts of modern firearms would fit the bill.

Ended up coming back the next couple days and grabbing guns and ammo and storing them somewhere safe
Glad to hear you and your stuff is ok . You can claim the ugly bushes on insurance , and thank the fire for getting rid of them for you 😎
Stan in KY .

Glad you're well @PasadenaMike .

Edgun Leshiy Classic. You simply cannot beat it. It is heavy and solid enough as a weapon to induce severe blunt trauma, you can backpack it or strap it to your chest without it being inconvenient. Air pump friendly, and you can change calibers in seconds only needing the barrel to do so.
