HW/Weihrauch Best optics for .177 HW44 and older eyes (maybe some magnification)

I just purchased a .177 Weihrauch HW44 PCP pistol with the Weihrauch 2x20 Pistol Scope from AoA. Now I'm having second thoughts since that's very little magnification for my old eyes. I'm open to suggestions from anyone. I will be pesting at 20 to 40 yards (mostly 25-30). I have a little time to call and change my order since they won't be shipping for another week or so. Thanks for any input!

Rather than "add" stuff to your rail, take a look at this -
A good brand name, Quality sight / scope, it's 5x to help you with your eyes. You can use it without light, a black retical, a red lighted reticle or a green lit reticle. A good lens diameter for a good view through the lens, etc., ect.
There's 1x, through 5x or 6x magnification to choose from

There's many to choose from, Look through Optics Planet, or other gun oriented sites. Simple, many sites to look through and see what's available.

Thanks. I'm looking through Optics Planet. I want magnification and light weight if possible.

Make sure to check EYE relief CAREFULLY some pistol scopes can not focus at arms length , or maybe your not shooting that way .? I always shoot a pistol at arms length even when rested . Then again , some people just use a rifle scope and get up close to the gun .

Hope this helps , Stan in KY .
In my case I think I will probably always brace the pistol in some fashion and my eye will be roughly 14" or so from the optic.

I have the HW44 in 22 and it is arguably the most accurate gun in my collection to 30 or 40 yards. I'm 73, a terrible shot, shaky as hell, and use a Sig Romeo5. I'm amazed at how accurate this gun is and you don't have to concentrate like you do through a scope. Point and shoot. Harvested 4 rabbits from my neighbor's yard (son in law) this year, no problamo. He even shot a rabbit with it and he doesn't know what he's doing. 😂Light weight, quick to target.

ok limited amount of pistol scopes at that long of eye relief , but their are a few, i have a Burris EDGE 2x7x30 not heavy . i use one on a pistol and another with a barrel mount on a springer break barrel that does not have an 11 MM Dovetail .

I am in the same boat age and eye sight wise! I will give this a look. I've never used a red dot before so I may be thinking wrong in needing magnification. I know with all my scopes I always use the most magnification available.

go to Cabela's and look at dot sights . Look across to the farthest item/ wall away from you , try them out b4 you buy

Could always throw the carbine stock on that and use it with a regular scope. I have seen some with the stock and they look quite handy.
I did that with the last pistol I had but I want to keep this as a pistol so I can walk around in my back yard without arousing too much concern from neighbors. Plus, I've never shot a really accurate pcp pistol before and I want to give that a try but I want every advantage I can get sight wise.

After further research, I've decided to go with your suggestion of the Sig Sauer ROMEO5. The reviews and price with your recommendation convinced me to at least give it a try! Thanks.
I believe you'll be happy. If you buy it through Amazon there are free returns. Plus it's hard to argue with over 13,000 4.7 reviews and #1 seller on Amazon. I believe you'll be happy, if not save the box. Last add, I would strongly advise you to purchase at the Sig store direct or on Amazon as below in the picture. The Romeo5 is the most knocked off optical of all opticals. I learned a hard lesson.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure that's the one I got. I just saw a video of the counterfeit problem right after I bought mine so I'm ready to check it out thoroughly when it arrives!

I got my .177 HW 44 and ROMEO5 assembled and sighted in today at 20 yards. Its shooting JSB 8.44s at 825 fps for a kill zone of 1/4" from 17 to 34 yards. It is FAR more accurate than I can shoot. I built a homemade shooting rest and with that I can shoot ~1/2" groups at 20 yards if I'm patient. I am more than pleased at the quality of this pistol. The red dot is great also but I'm still getting used to it. The ROMEO5 seems to be a great buy for the price!
