Jeez, what a story. I'm really glad that at the end there was a positive resolution, and I hope this scumbag gets caught and jailed. Better sooner than later. I'm pretty sure he's still stalking this forum and will try to defraud someone else again in the future. If you shipped it with USPS that stealing is a federal offense, we recently discussed it in a separate thread. You can report the crime to the USPS office of investigations, and these guys don't take it lightly. Check out here: https://www.uspsoig.gov/about-us/office-investigations.
On another topic, while AGN has a blacklist of known scammers, why don't we have a whitelist of people that are safe to trade with? Or some sort of reputation scope. Or verified members, which provided their ID to the forum admins to verify their personality. I know there is a feedback section for each profile, but it's not that helpful as I see that people have feedback not only for trades but also for things like "I liked what you said in this post, here is thumbs up for you". I.e. AGN allows leaving feedback for anything. IDK how this could be implemented, but if now the user's account age, post history, and feedback cannot guarantee that it's safe to trade with this person we need to think about some new approach.
Good story, Matt, and good on you for helping JBull out so in the end all are feeling good about things. And let’s not forget Elis for his generosity in assisting and willingness to cooperate
I am really glad this came full circle where everyone could at least full "semi" whole. Thats what being part of this community is all about, that , and of course the love of shooting!
