Other best poor mans pcp

it’s fully ported and the barrel port is elongated and angled to about 45* to direct air flow down the barrel. i admit i did spent about an extra $140 on a drop block and plenum but that’s it 😅
stock barrel, half coil cut off of the hammer spring, trigger job, stippled the grip i lightened the hammer. moderator with a 6.5mm exit hole.
reg at around 2100-2150psi. my wife and i just bought a house. i’m too broke to spend more money on a $250 dollar gun but i did buy a K1 from a member here to act like bedrock and stop me from digging too deep into that rabbit hole called power.
Enlarging various air holes :) usually will get you a small velocity increase (20 FPS?).
A lighter hammer may help with efficiency, not with power.
I have the regulated drop block with the regulator set to 2300 PSI.
With no other changes I get about 750-770 FPS with CPHP, almost like stock.

How did you get to that power?

A longer barrel would explain the power, but you said you do not have that.
Is the plenum the main contributor to that power?

Stock Notos is about 750-770FPS with CPHP 14.3 grain pellets.

You get 850FPS with 15.89 grain pellets.

Let's assume that what you say is the truth.
In the best case you spent $300+ to get you there, longer barrel, plenum, whatever.

If I wanted that power, I could get it for $300 in a regulated rifle (plenty of choices).
For less than half the price of your "upgraded" Notos.

The Notos is a great short range plinker/target shooter.

Some people really like making a $230 air gun into a $800 air gun.
lol my notos is dope, truth.. a .177 p35x would be nice too.

some people really do like making a $230 air gun into an $800 air gun. not me. i have a lot of respect for those people cause those people are usually the ones leading the front lines of our rabbit holes.

i have the stock barrel. i’m too cheap to do a barrel swap and i like the length that the notos is currently at.
i would say yes, the plenum added with the porting and stock regulator settings from the airtube brought the gun up from 770-780fps cphp 14.3 to about 850fps with the same 14.3.
i only cut the spring so i can bring the fps down when i wanted to lower fps. the stock spring strength didn’t allow any fps adjustments up or down.
i did change the breech O-ring and the 2 barrel o-rings out, but those were items i had on hand.

on the contrary its a powerhouse of an airgun .. well made , excellent barrels

not at all ZX10

i forgot to end my previous post with" FTW"
Was gonna say I love my vulcan 3. Take 90+ yard shots consistently...only drawback is not externally adjustable and I like messing around with different size slugs so next pcp will definitely be externally adjustable. Here's my favorite 90yd+ shot. Shooting a heavier slug now than what I used in the vid....62.5gn @ 945fps / 123fpe

I owned a Beeman Raider for 2hours but I returned it because of quality control issues. First the open sights were unusable, rear sight was canted to the left side and front sight to the right. I was able to move the front of the barrel shroud to straighten the front sight but nothing for the rear ( had a 2 piece shroud). Installed scope , ran out of left adjustment before hitting the center of the target (1.25 inches right @ 25 yards)
Returned it to the store. Inspected the 2 more they had sights were worse than the one I returned. So, cheap yes but even at that price it should be shoot able. It grouped decent, nickel sized so I will give it that. Just not what I wanted to give my daughter for her first pcp gun.

you have more info on these changes? I'd like to be at around the 850 fps mark with mine.

I finally pulled the trigger and got mine. Paid for that 24 hour leak test and the 10 x 10 shot test by pyramidair as well.

i was able to get 705-710fps (27fpe)using .25gr with the stock air tube and stock barrel from a plenum and porting alone. i opened up the airways for parts —#42, #40, the barrel port, and the hole that part #66 screws into. i can’t remember what size i expanded those to but it was as big part #66 hole was. for the barrel i elongated the hole so i can increase airflow without having the pellet fall or get stuck. i also angled it to deflect the air directly behind the pellet.

I don't think the Marauder can be beat, and a used one is easy to find. They're the 10/22 of airguns. They can be had for $300.
The Notos is a great gun also within your price range.
My pal has an Avenger, near that price range, and it's amazing.
I like that and agree. The Mrods are the 10/22 of the airguns
The OG. They are awesome but a little heavy and long

Guilty, But I do appreciate them as designed for a few minutes first LOL

Beeman Raider
I have a Beeman Raider in .177 and one in .22.
Each were around $120-$125 shipped.
They are quite accurate at 50-60 yards.

I bought them for the low price and the challenge of tuning unregulated PCPs with small air tubes :)

I added the valve hammer buffer (AKA Bstaley mod) to both.
These are the tunes I have for them

Raider .177

Pellet: Norma domed 9.1 grains
Pressure: 3800/3900 PSI to 2500PSI
Velocity: 840-863 FPS
Shots: 50+ (4 mags + some extra)

Mods
Valve hammer buffer (BStaley)
Height: 2.90-2.95mm, OD: 22mm, ID: 12mm

Raider .22

Pellet: CPHP 14.3 grains
Pressure: 4000PSI to 2600PSI
Velocity: 685-712 FPS
Shots: 60 (6 mags)

Pellet: CPHP 14.3 grains
Pressure: 3800-3900PSI to 2700PSI
Velocity: 692-712 FPS
Shots: 40 (4 mags)

Mods
Valve hammer buffer (BStaley)
Height: 2.5mm, OD: 22mm, ID: 12mm
