ideally I think the whole process of the triangle would be much easier to do with the milling machine and a rotary table.. you could get that done a lot easier..
I do like the design of the one bigHUN posted..
this allows more air to come in around all sides and less areas where pellets can be shaved off.. I have read about guys enlarging the round transfer port to a oval and as large as possible without the pellet dropping down into the transfer port.. while it makes for better air flow you have more chance of damage to the pellets..
now also if the lead in is long enough for the front of the pellet to slide with the probe past the port before it starts to engage the rifling I think that also has a less chance of damage to the pellet..
I think there's several different designed guns that actually are better as far as transfer port and that is the inline.. airforce guns, break barrel and side lever, all have a straight through transfer port and I think that's another reason the GK1 works well..i actually like if machined properly the guns that shoot the pellet through the magazine vs the pellet probes.. Huben GK1,K1,evinix 6, one i had years ago a ars6 almost the same as the evinix. I also have shot a big bore bolt action that the bolt was hollow and the air went through it, used reloadable tube shells, was 28 gauge shotgun or 51 smooth bore.. ars farco shotgun..
another interesting gun is the alteros, I forgot but I think it is alteros m4.. the air goes through the bolt, it's got a magazine just like a cartridge gun and well the downside is that you can likely only use the alteros slugs.. very unique design..
not saying that the guns with pellet probes and 90° transfer ports are not good, but it's more resistance and turbulence. also the shorter the distance between the valve and the back of the pellet, gives less room for the air to expand and I think you end up with more efficient air usage..
another gun that I used to have years ago was a brocock, not your current brocock guns..it was a 522, they also make a single six and lever action golden boy..all used the tandem air cartridges.. were a lot of trouble with leaks and new o rings until I put in the industrial 90 o rings.. never leaked down and was always ready.. I really wish I had the entire collection.. I'd likely now if I at least had the guns have a CNC machine shop make the cartridges from stainless steel or at least the best tool steel, the originals were of brass, so not the power level of the new PCP guns.. but I really liked that design..I really wish brocock would bring back that old design and modernize it..
if anyone wants to see pictures of the brochure for the old brocock, I can take pictures of them.. just ask and I'll try to post them..if you want a separate thread, if someone can get it started I'll post pictures, unfortunately I'm not very good with the computer and forum..or PM me..alas all I have is the catalog.. it's the one gun that I wish never got away..
