Agreed. My PCP's are all .177 and between 9-18 fpe. If there was a decently lightweight .177 springer that made 15-16 for and was as docile as a PCP, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I don't think physics allows such a creation.

Have you tried a HW30 or aka R7. Lightweight, accurate, fun to shoot and smooth. Not the most power but they can drop squirrels.

I have a HW30 as well as a Winchester 435. Wonderful, smooth, and a joy to shoot. And both have far more recoil than my .22 cal PCP gun because it has none. And couldn’t care less how you hold it. While making 40-48 lb-ft energy. I prefer springers to PCP but there’s no comparison performance-wise. Until someone invents the the gun we described above LOL.

I did't notice how bad the hw30 is for recoil. I guess my past and present springers, FWB124 , Beeman Kodiak. 25 cal ( Webley Patriot ) . RWS 34 and Hw95 made it feel like a smooth shooter . Yes I own a hw30 .

Nobody is suggesting the HW 30 has hard recoil. It’s about as mild as you’ll get in a springer. But, still a lot more than zero.

Both eyes open does not work for everybody, impossible for myself, i don't have a dominant eye.

Dont grip it to firm but not loose. Holding through your shot is very important. Takes some practice but spring piston guns are awesome.

- Make sure the thing is shooting right.
And that is almost never "out of the box" these days unfortunately. Tuned to minimize bounce, kept within a reasonable power level for the rifle, and ensuring that its sealing well and consistent makes for a gun that's fairly effortless to shoot.
Guns that bounce or are oversprung is what makes them hard to shoot. Along with one that's dieseling and burning off lube.
If you have to stand on one foot and stick your tongue out just right to work for accuracy, fix the gun. They really shouldn't be that complicated to shoot.

I did not realize that you might not have a dominant eye. Learned something new. I'm cross dominant. Left handed but right eye dominant. So, at an early age I learned to shoot right handed.

No shooting for me the next few days, I got up to 9 degrees Friday morning to go to work. We had to deal with a drive through window at the pharmacy with the northwest wind blowing in all day, high 24. Much warmer this morning at 21, and we did get above freezing for a while this afternoon, supposed to be low 20's again tonight, then another roller coaster of ups and downs, finally hitting low to mid 70's this coming Thursday, No wonder we cannot acclimatize to the cold. About 65 years ago when I was a young teenager it got cold and stayed that way, even in N. Louisiana, but not any longer. And we still have Jan and Feb to go our worst is usually late Jan or early Feb., last Feb we had an unusual entire week of snow, ice and sleet with a low of -6F, unheard of. I went last week and bought 40 gal of ethanol free gas for my big portable generator in case I neede it. Will use in the lawn mower through the summer if not used this winter.

Supposed to be 77 tomorrow here in E Texas. Two days before Christmas 9 degrees. Exactly two years ago we had snow and Ice on this day.

This. Had this discussion a couple times recently. One of the things I love about springers is how different they all feel. True for other items of which I have multiples. Bicycles, RC cars, tennis rackets. Each one one has its own feel and if I pay attention will teach me how to use it. Springers are no different.

Always be careful not to tighten stock screws and the heavy trigger screw too tight. Especially when using Allen keys. Easy to crack your stock. Crow

When cocking the rifle, never let go of the barrel or the cocking arm when loading. Don’t take hand off till closed. Crow

100-150,000 pellets? I wonder if you can wash out the barrel with that many?It gets easier after 100-150,000 pellets downrange, don't get discouraged.

I read in a pellet review that springers need heavier pellets for accuracy. I intend to find out.
