A work buddy just stopped by my office and was asking about a better break-over than what he had. Don't know what it was but probably a real cheap piece of stuff. His target range is around $200-250. Hatsan, Gamo, Benjamin ?? jk
Walther Terrus or RWS 34 refurb or used come to mind. I personally would not recommend the Benjamin or Crosman breakbarrels, though many here seem to like them.
I have to second the Walther or a good refurb. Gamo's have never managed to impress me, and although a Benjamin is not a bad option in the price range, it is possible to do better. I generally like Hatsan rifles, but the sub-200 models can be unpredictable with regards to quality.
If you're in the US, for just a bit more money a Weihrauch HW95 from AoA for $299 plus shipping is the best value out there. I don't know if they're still on sale like that, but it is a rifle that should make anyone happy for many years.
It sounded like just for plinking, some hunting. He was frustrated with what he had, accuracy wise. He's in city limits so it would need to be pretty quiet. Thanks guys, I'll pass it on. He may not be serious enough about to worry about. If he ask again I'll help him further other wise..... jk
You might start with showing the proper way to shoot a springer. That could be a lot of his problem. That and proper cleaning and lube. If he's not an avid airgunner he probably has no idea how to hold and shoot a springer.
