Hello, I’m trying to remove the valve from my Air Venturi 90ci airtank. I’ve tried putting it on a vise (the valve side) and turning the bottle by hand but it’s definitely not moving/turning. Is there a better method to remove this? Thanks
I carefully clamp the valve in a vise (jaws lined with wood or something to prevent marring).
Then I wrap a couple of bands of electrical tape around the bottle to improve the grip of the strap wrenches, then grab both handles simultaneously and turn. You're generally fighting some threadlocker so it takes a good amount of torque.
I use an 'adjustable c-spanner hook wrench'. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PGQVGZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one that I had kicking around. The pin was just a bit too large to recess into the holes that are bored into the collar of the valve body.. I used a multi-tool grinder/sander to machine down the diameter of the pin, and as soon as it fit, it worked like a charm.
If I had a bench and/or a bench-vise, I probably would have used the adjustable strap wrench method. [They work great for this sorta' thing as well as many other applications]
