Best way to repair stripped threads in plastic housings?

Any good two-part epoxy should work, like JB Weld. Fill the hole, let it cure, then drill and tap. Another technique I've used on wood, fill hole with epoxy, then just turn the screw in. When it cures, you can then unscrew it, and the threads remain. If it doesn't work, nothing lost. Also, be sure to treat the screw with wax or some release agent before turning it in the epoxy.

If there is enough material around the threads, you can actually buy threaded inserts that are made to go into plastics. I've used a couple different ones. This provides you with metallic threads. Ultimately, they are a pretty strong "fix" for stripped plastic threads, or in my case, no threads at all !

Here is a custom intake manifold top with four inserts (at the studs) to hold a carburetor in place.
