Best Weihrauch for a first time springer shooter?

Ha - I hear ya. But they are also made with a basic beech stock. And it's pretty easy to find used guns (or spare stocks), if you prefer the "pre-dinged" approach, LOL.

In all seriousness, if you are seriously considering the HW 35, read this post. It's the most thoughtful description of the gun's pluses and minuses I've ever seen.

The darn 35 is eternal...and has always been pretty, to my eye anyhow.

If the new ones only looked like that. Beautiful gun Mike.

Well as of right now the HW50 is leading the pack on recommendations.

Question on AOA. When you buy one that is not in stock and pay the $25 are you locking in that price as well? They seem to have the cheapest price on them. HW50S @ $399.99 + free ship
That's a question for AoA.

If you do a Hw50 I'd go 177. If you plan to keep it under 35 yards 22 is fine. They're kind of slow in 22 (~600fps) so the trajectory drops of fast after 35 yards. I had one and sold it. My 177 HW50 is IMO my best all around springer. My favorite and most used is clearly my 177 HW30s but they lack the punch for pesting grey squirrels past 20 maybe 25 yards.

The 30s are my most fun guns. My 177 50 is my best fitting and most practical airgun. My other airguns are neat and fun but functionally could be easily replaced with a 22LR.

Only 50 I considered was back when there was a group buy on them in .20 caliber and I went a different direction, although they get very high marks from every owner of one. Have guns in that power range that fill the niche so I, so far anyway, haven't considered one again.
My 95 is in .22 and does everything I want it too (also have the R9 version in .20) and I like it enough I spent the money to do this to it for it's 5th birthday 2 years back:

The HW50 looks to be in stock at Krale. Shipping will take three days and will cost $50.

IF a 35 trips your trigger THEN buy one !! i love shooting my pretty guns and i do not baby them . IT just feel good to shoot pretty . . "nuf said !
Heck get two different guns from Krale. Get a 35 and a 30. Or a 30 and a 50. The shipping costs for 2 is the same as 1.

I had looked at the Hatsan guns and seen where some guys had reported gas ram failure on them. They have some that I’d like to try specifically that 30cal springer but want to get my feet wet with something of high quality and known performance/pedigree.
That is correct. I have a fill probe like a PCP to fill the gas ram on my Hatsan, to get a good shooting sesion out of it.

Mine went flat.. shot ot one evening put it up grabbed it to shoot the next morning and pftttt. Lucky i did not spend the day digging a stuck pellet out of the barrel..lol. Well it was good wile it lasted i guess is all left to say about it..
I have a modification for that gun that will let you use it.

I get it. I have a few rifles and shoguns like that.

In all honesty they will most likely never been taken to the woods. As I barely get time to take any of my other guns to the woods. Lol

This is what has be excited to tinker with air guns is the ability to shoot off the front porch and not bother anyone. I have an actual range at my house but sometimes it’s muddy or so just don’t want to drag everything out just to get some trigger time. So having the ability to shoot off the front porch will be fun.
That is exactly my setup at the moment 👍

In my experience, yes. AOA will honor the price. Good choice on the HW50, well balanced springer. My first choice of caliber would also be .177.

I am an Weihrauch fan and if I could just pick one it would be the HW97KT in .20 cal. I wouldn't care how nice it is, I would shoot it anywhere.
I had a .20 cal, R1 Commemorative Edition, 20th Anniversary model, that I payed well over $800 for in the early ninties. I filled the squirell pot with with that gun when ever I took it in the woods.
On the other hand I still want an HW30, kick around gun for plinking.
What ever you decide your halfway there with any Weihrauch. I also think you'll be surprised to shoot and own a .20 cal. 👍

My vote goes for the 50S for a first time shooter as a good starting point.

It will either just be the first rifle, but if the shooter decides (heaven forbid) it is not a hobby for him/her it was not a massive cost and should sell on again easy enough.

In fact, I have a number of guns and ordered an HW50S yesterday because I think it is a great little rifle to have.

I have and had many many gas ram Hatsan’s. Over a decade of time. One failure. $40 replacement from Hatsan. Their Vortex gas ram is quite reliable. You mentioned your interest in the .30 caliber. It’s a dog. Pellet selection is nonexistent. Pellet price in absurd. The .25 caliber is a better choice.

I’m not against a 20 cal. Just never seen any pellets locally.

Just don’t want a 177 what I have already. Ready for something new and harder hitting.

Lol.. my gamo whisper fusion mach 1 smacks hard in .22. took forever to break in and settle.. hw/r to me in .177 is hard to beat but i do feel a bit slow in .22 , closer range and pellet placement can help that somewhat.

From stright shooter " our take" hw95/r9 .22
