Better Optics makes for better enjoyment.

It's been a while since I posted here. Been enjoying shooting more than talking about it :)

I'm posting because I just re-scoped a pew that I had been ignoring for some time, and came to realize just how much the bad scope was the reason I'd not been shooting it.
Equipped with clear nice optics, I am now loving this airgun for the first time.

The "bad" scope was an MTC. I have twice let Airguns of Arizona bundle an MTC on one of their packages, and both times I have been sorely disappointed. I had to assume the first one was the specific scope, but the 2nd time, the same poor results.

In this case, I swapped the MTC for another Meopta 4-20 Optika5. (one of my favorite scopes) I was waiting for a delivery of adjustable angle rings, but they had not come in. I intended to use them because on the MTC I needed two layers of shim in the rear ring to even get close enough to zero without running out of scope adjustment @ 35 yards. I assumed this had to do with the rifles built in picatiny rail, but I was impatient and while waiting for delivery of the adjustable rings I reused the excellent Sports Match Rings that came with the Rilfe and MTC.
With the Meopta, I started with no shims, pointed as close to the bullseye as I could manage by looking down the side of the rifle mounted in a tripod, and wouldn't you know, the reticle was already practically right on center. Let one go, and it was center, down about 2 inches. A few shots later and everything was good, no shims. It was the MTC that was so far out it could not work without shims!

More, the view in both the MTCs ive shot now has been very poor dim, and well hazy. I've deccribed it multiple times as the same look at shooting through a screen door. (yes I've done that) but actually worse.
the Meopta's ultra sharp, clear, deatiled and high contrast sight view is so fantastic. It's a joy to shoot. The "box" is also so much more natural.

This scope has givewn this otherwise excellent airrfile and new lease on life. It's going to be one of my favorite shooters now.

Not looking to tell anyome what to do, but in my case, I find that I enjoy the sport far more with good clear optics.

I have two Optika 5's as mentioned in the OP. They get the job done, all the parts and adjustments work perfectly. They are certainly well designed and quality built scopes. The fit and finish on them is top tier. I would not call their visual resolution stellar, good enough for hunting, but by no means what I would consider to be "sharp". In looking through my buddie's Leupold(I don't know what model) a few weeks ago, I realized how superior its resolution was compared to mine. So, the next scope I buy will be a Leupold.

Scopes can be "difficult". But sometimes it is better to spend more on the scope than on the gun. The optima I have has one trait that makes it difficult to use. At lower power the reticle is hard to see in low light. It may not cause you any problems but was a difficulty for me. But Meopta scopes look great to me. I want to own a few myself. Last thing I bought was a used S&B 8x56. I need to find out if it is OK to use on a springer. Hoping it will help for early morning and late evening educating squirrels. Have I ever mentioned here, DEATH TO SQUIRRELS? Be Well Brothers, Bandito.

Not to be rude or difficult but the fit and finish is not top tier in my Optika 6 which is higher than your 5, not even against other brands in the price these go for, and no way approaching the true tier1 scopes, but not that they are bad by any means. The turrets on mine don't act or feel exceptional. A recent example is the new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15 I acquired a few weeks ago which does have "exceptional" turrets that are pretty much?? equal to my true tier1 scopes. So good I wonder how Athlon managed this.

I haven't looked through newer higher end Leupolds but have looked through other brands as compared to my Optika 6, and most of those fall behind in IQ, including most of my Athlon scopes "except my ETR 15-60", which is at least as nice.
It might be that you have a Optika 5, vs a 6, that you aren't seeing the IQ I do??

The old fixed power 40x Leupold target scope I had for years in FT had good IQ and I'd put it about the same as my ETR on 40x, at least going by memory and the best I IQ could find at the time/15 years ago, and without a direct comparison to nowadays.

Leupold..... 🤔

Does that brand have ANY scopes that has 10y parallax and a holdoff reticle with exposed turrets?

I can't find any..... 😵‍💫
