AEA Big bore tuning

Looking for someone that does tuning and servicing on AEA rifles. I have an Element Max .50 that I deer hunt with. I need someone to look at it. Not sure what’s going on with it. I took it out today for the first time since deer season last year and I couldn’t get it to shoot accurately at all today. The sweet spot for it was 200bar but after 30ish rounds I filled to capacity, 300bar. One shot it dropped to 150. I’m a newb to all of this and don’t feel comfortable taking it apart myself. Thanks for any info on someone creditable.

@SouthGaBulldog I don't think I know of an AGN member who works on AEA airguns for others. Have you tried reaching out to Bin about this? He's in Massachusetts.

@SouthGaBulldog Can you give us an update? Were you able to improve your Element Max's accuracy? If so, what did you do that brought about improved accuracy?

Sorry guys for the delayed update. I tore the rifle down and found a few issues. The number one being moisture. This I’m sure was caused by the cheap compressor and filter I have. The others being a dirty barrel and a blown breach oring. I cleaned everything and replaced the oring. I invested in a tank and regulator. The local dive shop filters their air 3x and is super dry. First shot sounded great and had good accuracy. Second shot the air dump was back but still had good accuracy. I shot a few more times but with the air dump still happening, it drained the tank pretty quickly. I tore it down again and did find a little debris around the valve area. So I’m gonna clean it really good again and go test it out again soon. I’ll try to remember to post an update. I’m also thinking about seeing if the local machine shop can fabricate a stainless valve. Not a big fan of the plastic.

Well so this happened today! I shot a few awesome rounds. Everything seemed to be back together and working well. Then I noticed a power loss. Got home and took it apart to find the valve stuck in the cap.

@SouthGaBulldog That appears to be a wooden poppet. I am I seeing things? Am I misunderstanding something here? Is that how it came to you?

I have the same gun and when I first shoot it it drops the pressure by 1000lbs. After shooting it for a while it settles down to around 400loss. I haven't had it long and want to try heavier slugs. So far I have only shot 235gr and .495 round balls. Since there is no adjustment externally, maybe a heavier hammer spring might help. The design of this gun is very simple and easy to disassemble. Watch the video and call Bin if you have questions.

I own 3.

1. HP SS MAX 357 has had no issues.

2. SF .25 is a wonky design with cheap mags that break if you look at them wrong.

3. Challenger elite .51. Came with a horribly defective barrel. Returned for another which had the exact same issue. AEA refused to acknowledge or repair the problem. I made a new barrel for it and now it's great.

It's a gamble.
