Big bucks on this one

Well, I opened my wallet all the way open for this one.

I've been curious for a while about these so called, "target" pistols. So I went on a lengthy search. When I found the 5 shot Steyr LP50 Compact, I put in an order for one. It took three or four weeks (wasn't counting) to get here. The air cylinder is stamped 2021-03-31. So they actually gave me an extra week on the cylinder certification.

As I mentioned on another thread, the barrel has a mirror finish in the bore, the trigger has more adjustments than other, non-target guns. Although, the factory adjustment suits me fine. Lubed like, glass smooth, a solid wall, with a super crisp break. Since my old age and eye deterioration has mandated that I wear glasses, I bought the Picatinny rail adapter to mount my Leupold Deltapoint Pro, dot (delta, a solid triangle) point. Took some shooting to get it sighted in, but wow, many talk about "tack drivers", this gun will make anyone a good shooter, even offhand as I shoot ! I even cut it up a little already..! I removed about 1.88" from the rail, way too long for me.

Lotta money, yea, for a pistol, so far, it's well worth it. The more I shoot it, the more I'd say yeah. If you can swing the money, it's well worth the entry cost. There is a HP version that shoots about 100fps faster than this one. This one, according to videos, shoots about 540-550fps. AND...it's VERY quiet. It has three holes in the top, mid-barrel of the barrel, then the shroud is longer than the barrel, and it has a diverter, cone inserted into the non-silenced shroud to strip air from the pellet path. No internal baffling, no external baffling, but, still very quiet. Not only is it the most accurate gun I have, it's also the quietest. Much quieter than my other pistols, (Sig Sauer ASP, Beeman P1, HW45 and a couple more).

The silver square thing just above the trigger is the five shot magazine. It moves automatically as you shoot. You need to remove the air cylinder to fill it. I'm working on an easier fill fix now.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU DID EXCEPTIONALLY WELL ON THIS ONE. EXCELLENT CHOICE MIKE-!

MINES BEEN HOT RODDED WELL ABOVE HP POWER BY AZ WITH HIS CUSTOM MADE ADDED ON INTEGRATED GUN AND CALIBER SPECIFIC MOUSEFART LDC SOUNDS LIKE THE PISTOL IS OUTA AIR WHEN FIRED.

I shot 3 birds in less than 2 seconds at 45 laser rangefinded rangefindered rangefound yards with mine with a kinda junky bugbuster clamming the gun close using both hands with elbows tucked in for proper eye relief.

You probably won't wanna shoot your other pistols after this. Perfect perfect perfect example of buy once cry once. I bought 12 or 13 extra magazines for mine and use a modified golf tee to seat them perfect all the same for the best accuracy.

You are extremely lucky you can shoot loud guns because I consider the LP50 BEFORE

hot rodding definitely NOT backyard friendly according to my and my neighbors ears definitely know I'm shooting a gun outside and none of the Steyr PCPs for that matter are backyard friendly as they seem to be the loudest brand next to Theoben or RAW requiring EXTRA attention to make them quiet. I might be too too used to Mousefart guns though that sound like dryfiring with ZERO air in them regarding what I am used to in quiet that's all.

If you buy the PRO-X next you won't wanna shoot your other guns as well. Buy at least 6 extra magazines for it.

@mikevv where'd you get steyr's in the US? Pilkguns.com?

Yes sir. Nice people. Ask a lot of questions though. Like the cylinder filling. While they "sell" you a big ol fitting that goes into a scuba type tank, there's an easier way that they don't mention until you...ask. Drill a larger hole in the back end of the big fitting and tap it for 1/8" NPT. Then buy a 1/8" NPTx Foster fitting and screw it in the back. That way, you can still fill with the bare tank, you can fill with a quick disconnect and a fill tube and also by hand pump with a quick disconnect and Foster fitting.

They'll charge you $45 to do the drilling and taping, so do it yourself..!

Anyway, they just got an order in. I don't know how many or of what style in, but...

Thanks

Yea I thought about the rifle (Pro-X), but with no silencer on it, and it's already almost 30" long, by the time I put a silencer on it, it ends up being well over my, self appointed 30" long maximum guns.

Hell, I've cut three rifles (Pulsar, Renegade, and my Air Arms Galahad) now to get them under the 30" max long. Even my Saxon Pulsar (and Renegade), the shroud is the same length as the air cylinder.

Sounds like you need a Lelya 2.0 (26" w/build in shroud mod or ~30" with the slightly longer shroud mod).

Might be a lot of money, but the incredible accuracy is worth it. I have a Steyr LPS that AZ customized and it’s such a pleasure to shoot. The LPS is cocked for each shot using the trigger finger on the lever and works great, but yours is going to be so awesome. I shoot flys with mine at 20 yards lol. Someday I hope to get one like yours, it’s the perfect pistol in my opinion!

I have a Lelya 2. It was my "first" airgun purchase, not really THAT long ago. It's got a different sight on it now, vs this picture. Lotsa stock modifications.

Interesting, just looking at this picture, the sight on the Lelya, is now...on the LP50 above ! I have a bigger Holosun HS510C on the Lelya now.

As far as short goes, I also have an Airmaks, Caiman (not the Caiman X), that I really like.

One interesting fact to anyone looking to buy the LP50, at least from Pilkguns...

Per the Steyr website and pamphlet, "two", that is TWO air cylinders are supposed to be included with all of their LP (and some others) pistol sales. Pilkguns only provides "one" cylinder.

I emailed them last night about my find. Asking about a "possible mixup". Their answer (copied from my mail) - No, our pistols are sold with one cylinder. A second cylinder can be purchased at the time the pistol is purchase for $200.00. The cylinders retail for $225.00/each.

Makes me wonder, did I get screwed out of $200 or now (after purchase) $250..!
