I've been attacked here for simply disagreeing with others, this forum seems to be a place where unless you parrot the thoughts of others you're subject to snide remarks. I've added plenty to this thread and I can tell the real hunters by those who also responded similar to me in regards to the use of archery as an alternative to the low power weapons suggested here. If disagreeing with somebody makes me a "rabble rouser" I'll gladly take that title.@Buddy2023 It’s a very simple question. As far as I can tell you don’t seem too interested in seeking much information and contributing much of substance. You are here tying to confront other members and for what? So again, why are you here? From what I can see in this thread you are a rabble rouser. I could care less about you PMing me to tell me that you reported me.

You’re the type of person on an open forum that I despise. I have no problem stating that.
What I typed was a small portion of what Sam Fadala said in one of his books describing people who share a similar view as you in regards to adequate power for use on large game animals and I trust his information orders of magnitude more than I do yours. My quote was meant to add a little humor, a quality you apparently lack unless it's trying to degrade others.I actually like when people do disagree with me as long as they have a valid argument, that you don't obviously have.
Bringing in throwing roundballs ? when we are talking of small projectiles traveling at 900-1000 fps, you see how your argument is deeply flawed ?
Also you very quick responding with nonsense on selected post and just as quick avoiding responding posts that you absolutely cannot argue with since,...yes you don't have a valid one so try deflect.
You're right, I was a gunsmith for 7 years and a clerk at the same gunshop for 5 years. My mentor growing up was a "sniper" during WWII Sergeant Fredrick J. Lander 76 Infantry, he told me stories of his hits on the Germans. You made a good point which I eluded to " You never hear about the failures" In regards to my thread on using Mobil 1 Alphabet org my fluid power instructor in college, who is a retired Master Chief of the United States Navy recommended it, I suppose I should have mentioned that, but sometimes it's fun to sandbag people LOL I think you're cool I can tell you aren't an antagonist like many are here. I hope our banter can remain the way it is nowI see that you mostly subscribe to the PB side of things. One thing I learned with AG's is to forget most of that stuff!
They are 2 different animals!
And seeing as how at least five Confederate soldiers claimed that they had fired the fatal shot with the Whitworth .451?
How can one even claim it was all that accurate?
And trust me. You never hear how many Sniper Shots were misses!
The Barrett .50? That's throwing concrete blocks to make up for Pin Point accuracy.
Well one thing I've learned in here is you go from going bang to going twang LMFAOWell. I was Sniper trained by the US Army. So I can see both sides.
To be honest? Comparing PB to AG is worthless in SO many respects.
In regards to your original post in this thread?Holy crap... my other post also ended up like this.
Well... I think the question as been answered and proved on the first page by our fellow Nomadic Pirate. An airgun on that range can penetrate a wild hog skull = hog death, but the hunter must be skilled and precise to perform the shot. I was worry about the pellet on those power ranges would just bounce without damage, but I see that either .177 or .22 are pretty much sufficient at 20 fpe, or even at 17 fpe on .177 wich is my country legal limit, but better a to use a little more.
Also I understand, the smaller the caliber, the less power it will require to penetrate things. You can put it like... taking a broom stick and poking someone with it, or doing the same with a knife attached on the end, less surface = less force to actually be dangeous.
My background with airguns is just fun plinking and modifier enthusiast, I accompany my grandpa in hunting when I was a kid, I'm not totally newbye to it, also know how to skin rabbits. Could I hunt right now with my skills? I don't think so, not because of aim, but to be capable to aim calmly and steady to a big living thing, plus tracking it, make baits and get into safe spots and a long etc... that make the propper hunting skills in a whole that I don't have and don't need to at the moment. IF, I, for some good reason ever need those, I now know that at least, I have a capable weapon to do it, the rest depends on me.
As for responsability, ethics and all that, as I stated on a previuos response, I think its far better to have irresponsable people with small caliber airguns than to have them with big firearm calibers, and undless you are shooting anti-tank BMG's, a misplaced shoot with regular firearm calibers is either agonizing for the animal.
None of my AG's go twang. Well, maybe the Springers I don't shoot anymore.Well one thing I've learned in here is you go from going bang to going twang LMFAO
