BIGGER! Shrouds.

I wish Artemis had not skimped on the shroud of the PP700.... 😟

PCP pistols are notoriously loud — because they have such short barrels, which gives the pellet very little time to accelerate fast enough for the power we want.... So, we blow a lot of air behind the pellet, much of which goes out the muzzle — and makes noise!

So, PCP pistols need all the help in the loudness department that they can get!

And if a PCP pistol already has a big tube on the bottom for the air cylinder, making a similar tube for the shroud should create a matching look.

Pistol barrel lengths and OAL for comparison (imperial) — short to long:

6.7" | 12.0" OAL ➔ Ataman AP16 Compact

8.3" | 15.8" OAL ➔ Artemis PP700-S-A

8.9" | 14.4" OAL ➔ Ataman AP16 [Reg.]

9.3" | 14.4" OAL ➔ Artemis PP700W

12.0" | 18.0" OAL ➔ Marauder Pistol P-ROD

Pistol barrel lengths and OAL for comparison (metric) — short to long:

17.0cm | 30.5cm OAL ➔ Ataman AP16 Compact

21.0cm | 40.0cm OAL ➔ Artemis PP700-S-A

22.6cm | 36.6cm OAL ➔ Ataman AP16 [Standard]

23.5cm | 36.6cm OAL ➔ Artemis PP700W

30.5cm | 45.7cm OAL ➔ Marauder Pistol P-ROD

I wished they would make PCP pistols SHORT, but with BIG DIAMETER SHROUDS.

➔ Then I wouldn't need a 6.5" Sumo to get it backyard quiet at c. 12FPE (.22cal) — defeating the purpose of having a short gun like a pistol.... 😊

I've got an 11fpe pistol that is 15.25" long. Has a 7.6" barrel, 8.75" shroud, and only 3.75" of the shroud is forward of the muzzle. Shroud ID is about .8" Has a muzzle brake inside it, and 4 cones stacked tightly. With very tight clearances on the bores. Some dampening material as well.

Best effort I could put forward on compact and quiet while still having some punch. It is very quiet. Tuned valve lift and operating pressure to that end.

Thanks :) it basically is a 1" shroud. I have a wider one, but it is not as effective. That's really the reason I brought it up. The shroud is very narrow and short. Has little volume, but due to the type and quality of internals, is extremely effective. I think of volume as icing on the cake. It's nice to have, but you actually don't need a lot. Of course big bores are going to require more, though.

My pistol is based on a Crosman 1322. To my best knowledge it is a Russian krugergun pcp conversion kit that included airtube, valve, and shroud. Whitefang chopped down a 14.5" LW barrel for me and re-choked it. It's got about 140cc capacity in the 220mm air tube with the regulator. Somewhere in the ballpark of 100 shots @ 11fpe with 16gr aa diablos. I can turn the power up a good bit, but as stated is tuned for minimal report. I also have a 290mm tube that has no regulator and about 210cc capacity. Unregulated I've measured as much as 27fpe from the 7.6" barrel
