Bipods

Reading here and watching on the tube about bipods. So much info to digest. I think I am leaning towards and Atlas even though its redicuously expensive. I shoot in my back field and have two permissions for pest control which I love. One poster stated why should one skimp on a bipod that they are putting on a rifle that's in the thousand + dollar range. Hoping to mitigate the expense I have been looking on the bay and an thinking about making a purchase on Black Friday...if somebody is going to offer a deal. Anyone have any suggestions what sites to look at for a special on an Atlas? Wish it was something simple like an Ipad becasue there are a kajillion specials on them and other electronics. A bipod? Not so much.

When a person has their mind set on something it’s hard to sway them in a different direction, I have many bipods of different manufacturers, I saw the atlas and had to have the real thing so I got one, hmm does the same thing as my others do, it is easily better than the $25 ones from China. But recently purchased the utg recon and would not hesitate to buy more of these works as good as any atlas and it does it for a cpl hundred bucks less. This is my personal opinion and I’m entitled to it , Could go into lots of detail on the utg but I will leave the research for you to do. Just sayin

The more inexpensive bipods have always held my guns steady enough. On fixed income I can't justify spending the high $ amounts the "name" companies charge for "two adjustable legs & a clamp". We all have our own standards & opinions. I've tried the Acutac bipods, beautiful & rock solid. Worth $450? Hell no, not for me. But that's just me. To each, his own.

I usually don't worry too much about these kinds of things. I just let the addiction decide. ;^) I do sleep in a tent in the back yard during the summer though and rent my house out. That way I can afford the things the addiction makes me buy. But then again I have bought lots of pieces of junk that I will never use still they do make good gifts for Christmas. So I guess it’s all good in the end. I think someone should get this under control before I have to buy a spendy bi-pod.

Clearly, I'm in the minority here but I own an Accu Tac FC-G2, an Atlas 5H, an Evopod and I think they're all terrific for their intended purpose. I am not a rich man and I don't use credit cards anymore. If I want something expensive, I work overtime and save my pennies or I sell something I don't use much anymore to finance my purchase. I don't like to skimp on scopes or bipods, especially on an expensive gun that I shoot almost every day. I can tell you that all of the above mentioned bipods will last a lifetime and I get great satisfaction every time I use them. If you don't want to spend the money though, the UTG, a Harris or the carbon Caldwell are good inexpensive options. To each his own. If you do want to spend the money, you definitely can't go wrong with the Evopod, Atlas or Accu Tac. Of the three, the Accu Tac FC-G2 is my newest and favorite. For bench shooting it's just rock solid, super adjustable and sexy as hell!

To answer the question about where to get a deal on an Atlas, you probably won’t find one specific to the Atlas as they don’t have to discount them to sell them. You won’t save a lot used either, but it is usually your best bet. If going with EBay, I would only go with a reputable reseller and buy on a day with 10% Ebay bucks.

The real thing is definitely worth it.

Sorry, I neglected to answer your whole question...I got an e-mail from Utah Airguns letting me know that their Black Friday sale would include bipods, scopes, guns and ammo. Which ones I don't know but you might want to check them out.

Another option would be to call Casey at Atlas and see what he'll do for you. He's a hell of a nice guy!
