Well, just finished my testing and I have to say that the 0.177 fx stx barrel 500mm suck for extreme accuracy. Liner is too pellet picky (wide), and I manage to make a few good groups, but nothing extraordinary. For sure I will never use it in a br comp. the 0.22 is another story. Test 6 different jsb pellets from 600 to 900 fps and big nono! For hunting is ok, for precision shooting (just my experience)

Just bought the lw poly choked air 12 grooves to fit, will see how it goes

Being said tongue in cheek - Oh no, you mean FX STX liners aren’t perfect, especially in .177? . Just kidding of course, this is a well known issue and even the old ST barrel is better in .177 than the new STX liner. Not sure of the reason behind the STX not working accurately in .177 when the other larger calibers are competitive with various other types of Airgun barrels...?

I will love to test 600mm or 700mm stx .177 but it doesn't exist as far as I know. 

.22 and .30 stx 700mm rock tho .25 is good, but ime not as good as .22 and .30

The reason might be that .177 is not "commercial" and their minds are focused in the commercial cals? Donno, lw should do it.

I won RMAC 25 m benchrest last yr with a Gen 1 Impact shooting 25 grain redesigns. Not legal for the other stuff probably. I had a 500 mm B liner. I shot several perfect cards in practice but they don’t shoot like a Thomas. Maybe it’s a pellet sorting issue? Funny thing is you couldnt hit your head at 100 with it. They just took off. I’ve got a RAW HMX1000 for that now. It pounds!

You can not even use jsb 15.8gn .22 on international 20fpe HV @ 800 fps at 25m/y ( that is 21fpe)

Redesigned are pretty awesome, with maybe the best bc for a pellet

Well my .177 mk2 impact stx liner is accurate enough but it not precise, this could be down to several reasons, head position is slightly compromised on the impact. The magazine may cause slight pellet deformities, the transition from magazine to barrel to liner then to the rifling is not smooth and the barrel assembly isn’t rigid enough. Finally, I don’t think the design of the impact lends itself to be ultra consistent at the low power setting needed (780fps)to send a 8.4grn .177 pellet accurately on its way.

i am going to swap barrels on mine to a LW but I don’t think the impact will ever be able to match a dedicated 25yard benchrest gun.

ps, the .177 is by far the most popular calibre pellet used here in the uk and in all close range target shooting.

Hello BB, remember we are talking about 25m benchrest HV and LV, that is extreme accuracy, where anything less than 245 is not good (usually we see 248 249 and 250 cards), is a millimetric game, where magazine is not good, since you need to feel the pellet in the barrel (I do not use magazine @25y never, in 50y will depend on the wind, and in 100y Always use). IME the impact have the potencial if you know how to add or remove things to make it softer and more consistent. You can find barrels in SPAW (Ken Hicks)

Hunting is another story and YES .177 is good "as is" for hunting

So I’ve decided to drop the .177 liner considering the bad press, I’m still playing with detuning for FT and 50-75 BR club matches? I’m trying.22 Jsb 13.4’s @ 800-810fps which brings me to 20ftlbs! So far looks promising for FT plus can bring power up for 50yd with 18.1’s I can almost make this happen with just the power wheel... shooting Moa with the 13.4’s? For local club matches where I don’t expect to place? But have fun! I even purchased a 2.5-15 forge scope just for this discipline! “A deal I couldn’t resist“

I installed an old .177 ST barrel on my Crown and it’s a Laser. Shoots the 10.65 H&N Barracuda Match at about 900 FPS or the 13.43 JSB RD Monster at approx 800 FPS. Can’t decide which is more accurate. One has better trajectory the other has better BC. Hmmm...

I did, best group I made was a thumb finger nail @ 25y, no good. I have to check it tho, still have that one, is the telescopic shroud.

Cool. Of course the .177 barrel had to be modified to fit the Crown. I have no shroud just a CF tube “sleeve” and DonnyFL Tatsu. Was shooting it this past weekend at 50 yards and getting 1/2 inch groups with the pellets I mentioned above. This is my Hunter FT gun but I am shooting it 25M BR just to confirm accuracy and for the fun of it. About 19 FPE. Something to be said for the “old” solid FX ST barrels... The .22 version on my Streamline shot 734-30x last month in windy conditions at 25M BR and the .30 version in my big Cat won EBR 2019 at 100 yards. All three guns have the solid ST barrel pre-liner...

shouldn’t do this but I’m unveiling the “DARK KNIGHT” fun gun only! Local club shoots only, 1-hunter field target, 2-50yd BR 13.4’s for HFT, 18.1’s for BR, so far 1moa to 50yds with 13.4’s -3/4” at 50yds ( no flags and shooting indoors to outside with a 35deg. Differential! Mirage is a killer! )
