Blackwolf Rising

_66V2322.JPG

The Blackwolf is amongst us! Launched at the British Shooting Show, the new Daystate rifle is already arriving at Airguns of Arizona with the new rifle selling out before shipments arrive. Production is to be stepped up with the next shipment leaving the UK at the end of next week, and them another interim shipment planned shortly after. With a compleatly new rifle initial production is always cautious as you don’t want to risk any mistakes and risk the reputation of the model.

Its a great relief to be able to talk about and post on a rifle on which I saw the first AutoCAD animation in Dec 2021 in designer Adriano Nodari's Brescia office, and which I know had been worked on for at least a year before that. These things take time, though much quicker than Wolverine which took 6 years!

I’ve personally been shooting one since last summer, but only saw the finished stock in December, which is the way with stocks designed on CAD and made by CNC: you have none and then you have a hundred!

There are 16 points which we are talking about, many of them you could say can be found on other Daystate and BRK, but what is unique to Blackwolf is all of them in one place. The trigger for example is matched by the Red and Delta Wolf triggers, but this is a mechanical unit and certainly the best Daystate mechanical trigger of all time (yes, I include the CR-X). Other new features have been in consideration for years, the titanium valve was first tried on the MK4, but didn’t have enough benefits to cover the cost, but when combined with the balanced valve from the Delta Wolf and Ghost which has a more substantial valve stem, the weight saving and added strength gives a big benefit on Blackwolf, especially on the High Power models which at AofA has just hit 155 ft/lbs in a tuned .30 version.

Developing brand new models by what is a small company in a niche market that is air gunning and at the top end of the market is a risky and expensive business and there are not too many who can a) afford it b) have the knowledge of what can be done, so I hope you do understand why so few airgun companies are innovating to this level.

I hope this gives you an insight into the thinking behind the rifle and will keep an eye on this thread and answer some of the questions you may have.

Congratulations,
I for one believe Daystate has knocked this design clear out of the ball park!
I’m also completely aware of the significant financial risk involved in bringing such an innovative product to market. That said, keep the QA standards high and all will be wel.

This really is an exceptional looking new design. I look forward to the reviews that specifically discuss accuracy and the robustness for field use.

I'm mainly interested in the tube tactical version with 17" .177cal and .22cal barrels. When will the specs for all of the rifles be available on the website? I'd like to know the length, weight, and LOP range for this version of rifle.

Thanks!

specs are already on the website www.daystate.com/blackwolf The TAC version comes out second after the main release and can be paired with a device called a Volumax, which is a chamber extension for higher powered versions. This Volumax only fits to the TAC version and increases max energy by about 15%. data on this is still work in progress.

I see the specs for the wood versions, but not the tactical versions. Do you know when this will be available?

Thanks!

If one looks at AoA homepage one can see the specs for the 28” barrel version. If this volumax gives 15% more then its all about math. The .177cal gives 50 ft/ibs with 28” barrel then adding 15% to this gives 7ft/ibs more. Not bad for a .177cal doing 57 ftibs with 24grain bullets. Thats 1038 ft/sec….That puts the .177cal into its own league.

I will let you know, when my Daystate Blackwolf TAC .177 HP with the VoluMax and 28" slug barrel arrive here soon with me in Denmark (y) :) 🐺

So you tell me where oh where, could Daystate have come up with the tension approach to the Black Wolf? I shoot mostly Daystate Rifles have won and placed @ EBR 2018 and 2021. I guess I am naive to think the business world would take care of those who help make you popular and successful.https://youtu.be/kDjh4PwyCkw

The tensioning system on Blackwolf came from the 2022 BRK Ghost, which was in turn inspired by the system used in 2021 by Fady Kiwan who used it in the lebanese championships before going onto win with it in the BR world championship and I believe the year before used it when he placed 2nd at EBR?. Daystate appreciates all its shooters, and I see in your post sponsored clothing provided by daystate america. This doesn't mean that it can provide financial support for every shooter who enters or does well in a competition, but it does support the competitions themselves. You mention EBR and at both the matches you attended Daystate contributed to the prize money and to have those matches take place.
