Blocking members ADMIN

You are describing a private chat room, not a public forum.
No i did not. This is still not a public forum. Even if it was out in the public, I should have the ability to chose to hide what i post from someone seeing it. Too often those posts can be used by the person I chose to block. Much the same way I choose who in public hears what I have to say.

Thankfully it works properly here and its a great feature the way it works. Trust me I know hundreds other that wish we had this feature in other places we are chatting/posting at.

Totally agree. And you can choose a few options. See below.

You can’t count on the mods to mediate minor items that just snowball when done over and over. Their time could be better spent moving posts to the correct forum. It’s become a free for all out there. Just post everything in General? Used to be when a member posted in the wrong forum it was moved to the correct one. Now it doesn’t seem to matter…

Any person with an internet connection can read the forum content, thus it is a public forum. This fact is no more clearly demonstrated than by merely logging out and viewing the forum as a guest, and seeing the content a member seeks to deprive you of reading.

Please understand, I think you are perfectly entitled to your opinion that the hide feature is a good thing. However you are not entitled to your own facts about what is public.

I noticed that too. It baffles me why so many are in general when its clear they belong elsewhere. Ive refrained from commenting on them asking if they wouldnt be best in the appropriate forum? However I didn't want to be seen as a smartazz with the comment or to cause problems with it.

The biggest problem with posting things in the wrong forum is that later on it will be easily missed when someone goes to search for info that might have been answered and helped with already.

How weak is it to block members !?!?....never, ever consider blocking anybody even If I dislike them greatly.

Like putting your head into the sand so you cannot see and hear what you don't like, so weak that cannot take it ?

if someone posts something you don't like,...don't read it, skip it.

You just make a community for all to your own "gated" type community.

Some forums and discussing sites have learned to remove things like this. Most have like button but removed the dislike..

Personally i dont need a block or ignore to ignore you nor do i need a dislike to dislike somthing..

Im old enugh to just shrug sholders and move on ..lol. ( now that dont mean i wouldn't add my 2¢ )

Over the years I've been on a few forums, a few different languages, not once have I contemplated blocking someone.
We all have our choices.

One forum guy, who I refused to argue with. ( my Bulgarian wasn't strong them days) decided to verbally attack my wife on faceache.
One visit, a 5 hour drive, just to politely say hello, corrected this guy's attitude.

Thick skin is the better ignore button.

I used to post airgun questions to my search engine which would post the answers from this forum. I did a good bit of reading here prior to joining. 👍

That was an interesting comment about thin skinners creating their own gated community. There have been people over the years that annoyed me on forums. Still are. But I’m still interested in what they have to say. Just because we don’t see eye to eye, doesn’t mean that they aren’t contributing good info in other topics. I guess because of my past profession, most humans don’t have what it takes to really get under my skin. Especially anonymous keyboard specialists with a chip on their shoulder. I would like to agree with the ignore button being lame but I have to consider a legit situation like Centercut mentioned. There is no right or wrong about it. If you’re thin skinned and can only function if everyone agrees with you, use it. If you’re getting hammered by some nut like Centercut, use it. The rest of us will just go on occasionally disagreeing and getting our pants put on for us when we put our foot in our mouth. I’m feeling a little left out with MysticalDragon busting internet thumbs down caps in everyone’s ass but mine.

YES...when somebody hurts my feeling, by posting a comment that I FEEL is totally inappropriate or wrong, I have only 1 feeling left all my others were destroyed by hateful or wrong comments I let get to me, I immediately go to my SAFE PLACE with my blankie and binkie and self sooth, maybe throw a temper tantrum and talk to myself. I tell myself that it's going to be ok possibly chant" there is no place like home" over and over and take deep breaths, out with the bad and in with the good....gotta save that last feeling at all costs.
