Results BOERNE SCHUTZENFEST RESULTS

On behalf of the Boerne Schützenverein and the town of Boerne, Texas I would like to first thank Diana Airguns and Blue Line Solutions for their generous support and sponsorship making this historic all air gun revival of our shooting tradition entirely possible. Since 1864 we have been part of Boerne’s culture and are proud to have re-introduced our historic German tradition of Schüzen with Diana Airguns. Proceeds from Boerne Schützenfest are being donated to the Boerne Police Foundation to support our local law enforcement officers and their efforts in protecting our community.

The first of its kind all airgun Schützenfest has been concluded and we now have an official Luftgewehr Schützenfest-Konig! Please tip your hats to Konig Mr. Jim Clarke, Scharfschütze Mr. David Ellwood and Meisterschutze Mr. James Braddy!!! Each of these gentlemen will be honored at Boerne’s formal opening ceremony next year with the green jacket and hat presentation and corresponding medals. Superb shooting gentleman and a special congratulations to Jim! Gut Schuss!

Luftgewehr Schützen is a modified version of our traditional shooting discipline designed for nearly all airguns under 21 FPE to compete against one another, placing the emphasis and concentration on marksmanship ability. Shot standing from stair steps and off-hand, this unique style uses the traditional 25 ring “German” target (although misleadingly named as it actually originated in the USA) Luftgewehr Schützen is classed into distances of 50, 25 and 10 (coming) for <21,<14 and <7 FPE airguns respectively. Scoped rifles shoot 50, no magnification otherwise allowed.

The Schützenfest format was a 3 card, 5 shots per card relay elimination match, meaning the shooter with the lowest total score of that relay did not advance, adding an endurance factor to the competition. The final relay consisted of two cards off the stair steps and the final card off-hand.

The competition was fierce! We had a shoot off card for 3rd (Meisterschutze) between James Braddy, a very accomplished multi discipline shooter who held his ground stoically with a spring piston and red dot against David Ellwood’s CO2 to PCP conversion with globe sights, but James could not fend off David’s prowess for one more card. Scores all around were close enough to force Jim’s scoped Daystate to stay on point, and on point he did POSTING THE FIRST EVER PERFECT CARD!!! Scoring a 125 in the winds we were seeing is no small feat and posting it in the final relay is just how a “King” would establish presence! GREAT SHOOTING ALL!!

FIELD TARGET CHAMPIONSHIP

Boerne’s Field Target Championship was second to none as shooters from across Texas and as far as Alabama traversed our Hill Country course in much welcomed cooler temperatures. Newly placed target locations were seen easily with the all yellow targets and shooters enjoyed the comfort of our newly acquired teak bench courtesy of Oak Hills Country Club. Our Schützenfest-Konig inched out the local legend Scotty H. by one shot to take home not only the additional title but $100 cash, a tin of pellets, a pellet gauge and target! Gut Schuss! Scotty H’s seemingly unstoppable Marauder/Falcon combo and FT veteran Robert D brought up 2nd and 3rd place with cash prizes, tins of pellets and targets.Winners' names will also be painted on the Mike Smith perpetual trophy at the BSC clubhouse. Great shooting y’all!

A fabulous weekend of diverse events and great people. I especially appreciated the brightly painted targets! Being squadded with the winner was a plus as great learning experience. Congratulations to all involved in setting up this event, your hard work was apparent and appreciated.
