June Field Target Match Report
Boerne Shooting Club
Boerne, TX
Hello fellow shooters! Saturday morning the Boerne Shooting Club hosted its mostly-monthly Field Target match. Seven shooters braved the course, with only six competing for a score.
Will someone please beat Scotty H?!! Solid as a rock, Scotty is likely the most consistent shooter I have seen come through our course. Great shooting Scotty!! Another Lego trophy for the mantle! And never underestimate a Marauder!
David T unleashed his Redwolf this match, but his 50/60 wasn't quite enough bite for Scotty’s 52/60. Robert D. jumped back into the pcp class this match with 48/60, his 5 for 6 in the standing lane shows his prowess on the lanes, regardless of power plant.
Glen D’s second match yielded him two cleared lanes and a final score of 42/60. Glen may become Scotty’s nemesis if he keeps this up. He shot with Robert so I’m sure some sage advice was given. Nice shooting Glen!!
David E. shot his Beeman QB78S posting a 22/60. David shot a 700/750 last weekend in Schutzen with open sights, FT may not be his forte but he is a marksman without a doubt!
In the “ As Long as its a Pellet not Over 20 fpe” i.e., the ALPO 20 where almost anything goes, Jim C with his 20 fpe BRK Atomic with the buttstock added, shot a 37/60. I shot some faceplates and a KZ or two (possible split) in the ALPO 20 class with the remarkable Diana 54 and a red dot but not post score.
Lane 8 was entirely new this month with shots creeping uphill some and somewhat deceptively. Shifting the shot lines about 15 degrees is doubling our target locations overall, so the same course should rarely ever be shot twice. Lane 2’s left side is opening up more too, adding the mid range target to a new location. Lane 10’s needle threader was also back, a makeable long target tucked so deep and covered I had to crawl to get the string pulled. Only one target was swapped with one of the large ones tuned for 12 fpe, but I expect some more to be used in the next match as well.
We will be drilling footers for the FT bulliten board/wailing wall in the coming weeks and a divider post between lanes 4 and 5.
All shooters were winners for helping cleanup and breakdown!!!
Despite the miscommunication about leaving the bucklets on the range, I'm glad they got put up as N50 breakdown trailed on much longer than expected. Thanks so much again! And a hat tip to Robert D. for his novel idea for sight in targets. Simple genius!
