Howdy Fellow Airgunners!
We are super excited to announce the Boerne Field Target Club’s May Match(es)! Read on and find out why!
Boerne Shooting Club
33 Shooting Club Rd.
Boerne, TX
The nation's oldest continuously operating shooting club!
With such a great turnout last month and the compounding enthusiasm, we are starting the 50yd Benchrest! Yeehaw! BUT this is the first airgun benchrest at the club so we are doing two things FOR THIS FIRST TIME ONLY. One, we have to limit it to 35fpe. This is for higher level club reasons and out of my control. Again, this is only a one time limitation, distance, power and caliber will increase in future matches! Secondly, this first match is also a recreational and informal benchrest shoot. No prizes or awards, but door prizes will be drawn. We will supply targets and will have about 1.5 hrs of shooting time. The reason for these initial parameters is two-fold. One, I honestly don't have the scoring plugs yet and really want to offer benchrest to our guests. Secondly, a more relaxed event would ease my mind a lot as we are gearing up for much bigger stuff this year, more event types and tournaments!
A huge shout out to the club sponsors: Pyramyd Air, PelletGauge, Tenacious Airguns and TexasFieldTarget.com and the ever persistent hat tip to Robert D., Ron R. and Jim C. for the guidance, support and keeping me on target! Can’t do it without y’all. Most importantly is a thank you to all who attend. Many of you drive quite a ways to visit us so are adding on more each month to make it even more worthwhile. We appreciate ya!
CLUB NEWS:
As we are turning into the envisioned “all day airguns”, we are also working on lunch for future matches ( additional cost however) . We have some great spots really close to the range that will deliver boxed lunches. We also have the option of doing some brisket or burgers and such ourselves. We will discuss at the MD meeting to get y’alls input. I have no problem smoking a brisket the day prior, and my wife makes some mean sweet tea and lemonade too. Just sayin’..
Major cleanup on the site is happening. Thursday we are closing down for the day for pruning, trimming and playing lumberjack.
More lane markers have been made! We are replacing the PVC markers with the wood and concrete block type seen on lane 1. I’ll be honest, I was editing pics and the white pvc is a photographer's nightmare. Hard enough making y’all look good on film. LOL…
The BFTC is also proud to announce we are in the scheduling stages of a special fund raising match and benchrest shoot to raise and donate money to the San Antonio Fire Department. Backstory on this: my neighbor is a paramedic in the SAFD and the topic came up of what we can do for the department with the budget cuts. I suggested a fund-raising match with a minimum guaranteed contribution of $200 from TexasFieldTarget.com to get the ball rolling. New recruits are the hardest hit in budget cuts and the Chief offered some items that would be the most helpful to them, boots are $200 so at least one pair is locked into donation! In return, the BFTC will have a First-Aid course put on by the paramedics! Safety first! Details will be announced later on, but thought y’all should know what airguns can do with just some effort!
Soooo, without further adieu, I present the BFTC’s May Airgun Schedule!
