Here' my story-
Friday morning- Up early and I got my .22 Marauder detuned and made my dope card as well as I had the time for. (I know, I should be shooting .177, but I don't own one) Sighted in my new to me 1720 and did my best to make a dope card for it. In between breaks to air up I was loading up camping gear and trying to remember everything I'd need.
I had not been practicing much, so I wasn't expecting any laurels, especially since I was planning on leaving Saturday and not shooting Sunday. Thanks to unforeseen circumstances, I got the chance to shoot the final half on Sunday.
Friday afternoon-I got to the range around 2pm with barely enough time to register and grab a campsite before the Pistol match started. Everything was very well organized thanks to the Airgun Oregon shooters and Sacramento Valley club with a huge assist from Scott Hull, the Morro Bay/SLSBA president. I shot my first ever pistol FT match with my week-old 1720-I hadn't even practiced with shooting it from sticks so I was happy with a 14 score and was proud of my one long shot knockdown until my squadmate said "Wrong target!' sigh...
Saturday- to say wind was a challenge would the understatement of the year! It was also hot and very dry for this near to the coast and that was tiring. (I'm blaming the weather and not the excellent wine from Scott E. I overindulged in the night before, LOL!) I missed most of the distant targets on Saturday and learned to love the tiny kill zones and close shots. Thankfully I had good holdover data in 1-yard increments out to 20 yards and knocked down virtually all of the near targets. I finished with 36 Saturday-missed a few due to senior moments.
Sunday-Temps dropped to mid 60s and the wind was starting as we finished the shooter's meeting. I did a bit better and finished the match with a 39 after cleaning my final lane. The awards banquet was a hoot with great food and I stayed to help with the immense tear-down process.
All in all, I had a blast and met some great folks from out of state and got to spend time with the usual great bunch-came home walking on air!
Thanks and Kudos to all who made it such a great event!
I was having too much fun to take real pics, but here are a couple phone pics-
