Bought a no-name hand pump and as expected the manual is lacking any tips?

I got it together and it's pumping well enough considering it needs to fill up to 3000psi, but it makes a slight squeaking noise on the down stroke, is this normal, a flaw from the factory or does it just need to be oil which brings me onto the next topic. It says it needs to be oiled every 800 pumps, is that about right for a cheap made pump or is that something leftover from the days of leather seals? And the last of my problems is the gauge doesn't work so I have to rely solely on my airguns pressure gauge, what would I look for to get a new one?

Try emailing or calling the supplier and ask them to send you a new gauge.

My manual says to screw the top off with the handle and put 3 or 4 drops of silicone oil on the steel bar that goes up and down.

Also keep oil on the sleeve that is exposed when the handle is up.

I have 2 of the cheap Chinese pumps from ebay and they both work better than my Benjamin.

Walmart is selling one for $36.

We went through two Hill pumps between December 2012 and June 2018. Both were maintained per Hill instructions- a light silicone lube on the mating services every 90 days. Both were rebuilt during their service life. Both became so corroded due to moisture following the second rebuild that they went in the trash. We finally switched to dive tanks, and compressed air in June of 2018. Not only is it easier- no pumping air cylinders every evening, but the air is clean and dry. We really do shoot more because of it.

My tip, as soon as possible move to compressed air. With Hill pumps costing $250, without adapters, one can easily purchase a dive tank for about the same money. Refills, if reasonably local to your home, are easy and inexpensive.
