Brand New 4500 Scuba Tank Fittings & Connection Protocols

Hi All. I’ve bought: a 4500 lb DAVV compressor & a fiberglass 6L cylinder tank to supply my PCP Arsenal. When I make household water or gas connections, I use a PTFE thread sealant Or tape. My cylinder is awaiting it’s screw top shutoff valve. Is there some kind of thread sealant that should be used between connections to handle the very high air pressures stored/used? & to ensure ability unthreading connections? Inquiring minds want to know.

Also would synthetic oil be better for air compressor?

Thanks all

Yes to synthetic compressor oil. Do not use #46 hydraulic fluid or any petroleum based oil or oil that has detergent additives. Royal Purple synfilm 100 is a good choice. Cheaping out on oil is one of the main causes of early failures from deposit residue in the cylinder head.

No to thread sealant on your tank valve. If anything, add silicone grease to the threads in case you ever need to remove the valve. The valves have an o ring that seals the air and do not need additional thread sealant of any kind.
