Brand new CS4-i won't pump beyond 1800psi

Need the Groups help. I have a brand new CS4-i that I setup, dead head tested to 4500psi, and have used to fill guns 3x. Today I hooked it up to my Marauder... and once it reached 1800psi, I felt a slight "bump" in the hose, and it wouldn't pump past that point. There's really not much of a "manual" that came with it. and if I must. It's well within the return/replacement window (I bought it off Amazon for that very reason)

If it's anything more than a super easy fix, it's getting drained, boxed back up, and returned for a replacement.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Now I'm gonna go revist/shoot the Maurader for a bit. will update everyone on that experience too.

Hi Ed,

Had a similar problem after just a couple of fills on the airgun. What worked for me was to take off the burst disc, then run the pump and poor water into the hole. It flushes out the grease from over greasing, (didn't think I had, but I did). There is a video on the tube from the seller showing the process. Took about 20 minutes to do and worked for me. Would suggest giving it a try.

When it stalls at 1800 psi, is it continuing to pump, or is it shutting down?

If it's still trying to pump, check for leaks, a ruptured burst disc, and clean the check valve. Those are the easiest things to check out.
When it stalls, everything continues to run, and all seems as normal, but it simply doesn't pump past the 1800psi mark. I just happened to have my hand on the hose when I first noticed and felt a slight "bump" or "stutter" in the hose. I checked for leaks, didn't find any. I haven't pulled the cover yet.
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise! I just checked Amazon about returning it...and the price has dropped over $100 since I purchased this one. I'm thinking about just dumping the coolant, boxing it up and returning it for a refund.... then placing another order at the reduced price. :)

You might try this. Deadhead the output hose. Start the compressor with the bleed screw open. Run the compressor with the bleed screw open for about 30 seconds. Close the bleed screw and see if the compressor will pump higher than 1800 psi. While the compressor is pumping, check the hose for leaks.

Well, I tried that, and it seems to have worked. Dead headed it to 4500psi TWICE, using the same procedure. However, overall, this compressor pumps way slower than my Hong Yeng. I have them side by side and figured that if either went down, the other would be there... just in case. ;)

Compressor to end of fill whip sounds good, as long as able to reach and hold 4500psi with deadhead plug. Hookup to, and/or, Marauder itself would be my next point of investigation. Filling another gun with CS4, or Marauder with Yong Heng, should help to narrow problem. The low gearing, slow fill of the GX-CS compressors is key to minimizing compressor-killing heat and one of the reasons for selling success. WM
