Brand Spanking New HW95/98 .177 power numbers?

Yeah, I ordered a RAW HM1000x LRT almost 3 years ago and was shocked/dismayed when I received their updated style (worse) than pictured on any website! To make matters worse, they sent me the wrong caliber too .....o_O
After spending $2K on my dream gun .... I didn't have too many positive things to say.

Turns out by making a new moderator, swapping out the butt pad and other issues - I now love it.

Who would have thought - not me:).

Glad you like them:) - all my guns are scoped because I can't see the target -n-> sights at the same time ....
A curse otherwise know as "O" "L" "D"(y).

When did Weihrauch change HW98 the stock?
I guess the contract with there stock maker ran out if you see they ( im guessing hy looking ) discontinued the standard stock for that new kind as well. Seems the luxes stock just remains the same . Maybe the stocks redesign is that cheaper better product.

( Cheaper for them to make and better profits for the shareholders). Definitely not for me when buying one today😜

Just ran a few pellets through the chronograph to confirm. Three shot strings - JSB 8.44, 12.4fpe avg, AA 8.4 and JSB 7.87, 12fpe avg, FTT 8.64 11fpe avg. It's boingy, but to be expected I suppose. I'm awaiting a call back from Shane at AoA. Would eventually tune, but don't want to start with something that's not right out of the box.
That is low versus what I and others experienced from a factory setup hw95/hw97. Mine came from the factory shooting JSB 8.4s at about 13.5fpe. I then tuned it down to shoot 12fpe with an ARH kit. If yours is otherwise shooting well, then IMHO you are already at the sweet spot in terms of power for this gun.

I just received an HW98 from AOA. No chance to fire yet, but soon. I mounted an Athlon Argos BTR 8X34X56 scope. I will mostly shoot the rifle off a bench. One odd deal is the entire rifle is one color. No black stripling as in the ad photo. Is this normal?
Your stock not like his new stock he pictured on page 2? ( I assume the 98 he just got from aoa as well)

Like im seeing hw is taking a new look in stocks except lexus line. Old "standard" ones seem no more

- Evidently, Weihrauch changed the stock on the HW98 recently.
- Is the Athlon scope Springer rated? .... a great scope, but find out first ....

About where I'd tune it to. Waiting to see where the other new HW98's are landing. They changed the stocks. Maybe they changed the springs too?

Is yours a .177? If so, can you share the 5 shot test summary you received from AoA? Trying to determine if the new shipments are lower powered or just mine. Thanks!

Althlon said / says mount ot on anything and ot no questions asked lifetime .not even a sales ticket.

Oh wait.. there is one question asked and thats your return address

I use mine on gamos and hw/r9 no issues . One i sent in i bought as a big diecounted display scope. And athlon took care of it zip zap pow solid .

Yet they just released the Heras line of scopes that are springer rated.

I would not put my Argos or my Helos on my HW95.
Yeah, I'm sure Athlon will honor their warranty, but why go through the hassle breaking/returning it.
Most mid to high-end FFP scope now days are meant for PCP's. However, many Hawk scopes can be used on springers.
My Element Helix SFP explicitly says Springer Rated on PA - otherwise I would say No.

I went back and looked at my HW77 numbers when new last year. This is the same power plant as the HW98.

JSB Exact 8.44's 881 fps 14.55 fpe
CPHP 7.9,s 899 fps 14.18 fpe
Baracuda Green 6.64's 1012 fps 15.10 fpe

Best pellet for accuracy was the Baracuda FT's 9.57 827fps 13.81fpe

Z
Even though the power plant is roughly the same, my experience showed the OEM HW77 produced more power vs. the OEM HW95/98.
All my Weihrauch airguns came from Krale.

Any scope can bust at any time . Just pop them a email and ask

I wonder if jlharden lives in a state with stricter air gun laws in place, like Illinois? Perhaps AOA set up the output to comply with those state laws.
Downstate Illinois. The regulation is for Cook County area(Chicago) but there is that possibility. Hadn’t really thought about that. They sure didn’t mention or indicate that though.

I'm certain your airgun regulations are statewide. Their definition of an airgun is
"an air gun is a pneumatic, spring, BB or paintball gun that expels a single spherical projectile not exceding .18″ in diameter or has a muzzle velocity that does not excede 700 feet per second or expels a breakable paint ball containing washable marking colors, then the air gun is not considered a a non-powder burning firearm."
As far as I understand it, anything that doesn't fit the above guidelines is considered a firearm in Illinois and would require a FOI card to own. I may be interpreting it incorrectly but think its been covered on this forum in the past. I remember shaking my head while reading the posts about how restrictive the regulations were.

Sorry, following a tangent. New Jersey is unbelievable on air gun regulations (see below). My daughter lives there. She can be sure I will never move there. What is worse, firearms regulations are very restrictive. My daughter's boyfriend says he cannot have the gun in his car unless going to hunting land or shooting range. I think it must be unloaded.

New Jersey has some of the strictest laws on air guns. New Jersey regulates all air guns as if they were firearms. To purchase any air gun in New Jersey, one must obtain a permit to purchase a handgun.
