Break in period?

When I started shooting my hw97 the first 100ish shots sounded pretty twangy and rough but I never really saw a reduction in accuracy. It seems like it has been shooting lights out from the beginning. By now I have around 500 shots through it and it sounds much less twangy and feels smoother but I haven't noticed my groups changing. Maybe it needs more shots or if these high quality rifles like wiehrauch and AirArms are so good to begin with it doesn't take much to break in. It will be interesting to hear other people's responses.

The break in results depend on the gun. I recently got a Weirauch HW 95 and it was shooting tight groups from the beginning. My .177 Gamo Shadow and .177 BAM B 26 needed a thousand shots to start shooting accurately and the B 26 is very impressive in the accuracy department. My .22 BSA gas piston Supersport seemed to take forever to begin to group but shoots acceptable accuracy wise now. Mine shoots a lot better than the one Tom Gaylord reviewed. I'm sure I only have about 1500-2000 pellets down the barrel of that gun and I won't be surprised if it gets better after another thousand shots.
