It's an upgrade option. Similar to aftermarket.....anything really. Kinda like fancier rims for a truck, or side steps, or a bed cover, or camper shell, or etc. Is it NECESSARY? No, but just an option for anybody who wants to customize.
Another example, grips. All of the OEM grips that come on guns work just fine to hold the gun. Yet there are countless custom grip options out there, and guys buying them. To the point that it's considered a feature now when a gun accepts different grips. Same concept, just a way to customize.

One great feature of the stock Delta/Alpha Wolfs and Ghosts is the ability to easily and quickly swap barrels. The clamps are a trade off, the easy barrel swaps for a more rigid barrel mounting system. Depending on your use conditions and how you handle the airgun, you might prefer one or the other.

Yep, the clamp requires pulling the scope rail off to swap barrels. That greatly complicates a barrel swap.
