Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost Carbine .177

In an attempt to create a sub 10 lb compact FT rig, I purchased a BRK Ghost Carbine and a Kahles 10-50x56 FT specific scope. I added a PRS adjustable butt plate and a PRS flip out single shot loader.
Safety issue = if you don’t want to shoot the ends of your fingers off accidentally you really need to add length to the barrel so a Zero Db Moderator made sense.
Overall Setup was pretty easy.
I used Burris XTR signature rings for the first time; very nice way to get some additional MOA and I went with with 5 MOA option since 60 yards is as far as I’m shooting my ghost.
I would have liked to eliminate the BRK pic rail completely, but, if the scope was any lower than 3.25 ” C of Barrel to C of scope I couldn’t get a cheek weld and eyebox that worked well. This meant my zero would be at 30 yards if I wanted to eliminate hold unders.
In the end the total weight came in at 10 lbs 9 oz. Damn those 9 oz gremlins!
For FT this platform really needs the trigger spring swapped out for a lighter one as it’s definitely a hunting trigger. Most of my FT guns fire if you sneeze
StrelokPro data is spot on as far as I can tell at this point.
With the power wheel on 15 and the regulator at 100 I’m pushing JSB 10.34’s at 865 FPS…. Increasing power wheel above 15 provided no increase in speed. Accuracy testing will follow.

Nice setup! I have a ghost in .25 but want to get a .177 barrel for field target. I didn’t know if I wanted the carbine or a longer barrel. Seeing yours has made my decision easier. Carbine it is. I’d like to learn more about your trigger mods too. Thank you!

I enjoy HFT and have numerous high end scopes and FT rigs. This particular scope purchase and application is more about learning and experimenting with something new in the event I want to try a different class where clicking is permitted. I’ve had a couple of March scopes also but found the reticles difficult to read and apply. My Sightrons tend to make my guns too top heavy when shouldered; even when mounted low as possible. This particular setup is an attempt to create a particular weight distribution. So far so good - I’m smitten at the moment.

A 10.3 at 915 fps? Is close to max in HFT <20 fpe, but I’d have to plug it into one of the many online energy calculators available to verify.

Most people I know in HFT shoot the 10.3 @915-920. If you like slower speed (800FPS range) then try 13 grain pellets.

It’s pricey but they retain their value really well should I decide to sell. Presently I’m mucho happy with it. I’m not sure why scope manufacturers are afraid of using more reference points/markings on their reticles? Many times your eyeballs are guessing if you’ve got the holdover point correct. My preference is to split the hairs weight v ballistic coefficient.
The 10.3 does the job, however, I would prefer to shoot it at 890 FPS and move up and down on the power wheel until I find this barrels sweet spot for that particular pellet choice. sometimes people talk about a barrel being pellet fussy, BUT, i wonder if it isn't the pellet being fussy about the speed they are using - in combination with a certain barrel.
I'm looking forward to trying Benjamin's new 10.5 diablo in .177, but they're not to be found just yet......
I had a good bit of wind yesterday and was still knocking them over at 55 yards just using StrelokPro data.
Once I have a still day I will verify each and every shot from a bench - yard by yard from 10 to 25 yards and then again from 40-55 yards and adjust my dope.
Oddly setting up an FT rig brings me a lot of joy and is very relaxing.

I will try the 10.3s. I like the 13.48 idea but I want to shoot a little faster but stay under 20fpe. Not I need to decide on a scope. My budget falls just a bit below the scope you put on yours, @cavedweller
