Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost: HP shroud and silencer on a Plus

Ish....

My 18" .20 barrel has a HP length shroud on it. I run it mostly @35fpe these days, with no additional moderator. I have tested with a mod added to the HP shroud and it gets even quieter that way. So what you're wanting to do will certainly hush it more than the shorter shrouds of the Plus and Carbine.

Cool thing about the Ghost shroud is that it's actually a functional shroud. I spent time with two prior BRK guns and they had shrouds, but only in name, as there was no way for the air from muzzle blast to get into the shroud. The Ghost in the other hand, utilizes the shroud as a sound containment system.

In my experience with the Ghost and other airguns, hushing effect goes up (quieter) as the distance between the end of the barrel and the end of the shroud/moderator increases. Ie longer is better.

So what you're wanting to do with the Ghost will make the muzzle report quieter, but don't forget that you'll still have the action noise, which is substantial with the Ghost.

I did. Well, sort of. I experimented a lot with various setups (as can be seen in the pics), on top a (home made) carbine shroud, in the middle the OEM Plus shroud, and bottom a (homemade) HW (Weihrauch) setup. The most silent of the three turned out to be the one with a Weihrauch silencer (the others being Huma’s). The added benefits were that it was the shortest one of the pack (37cm, or 10 and some fractals in inches) and the cleanest in terms of looks. I used a steel M14x1.25 to 1/2UNF adapter, and made the carbon shroud myself, so not sure if it is the size of an HP shroud, as it is trimmed to the length of the silencer.
The airstripper is not used in this setup, so no air venting into the shroud as opposed to the other 2, (which do use the standard airstripper) but is still the quietest of the 3.
