Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost long or short?

I am newbie to pcp airguns. I think i want a BRK ghost. I cannot find any reviews that compare accuracy and velocity between the long and short barrel. Any info?

Trying to decide which one i should get. I will hunt with it and plink just for fun. Squirrel, coon, coyote? 25 cal is what i am leaning toward.

Also, i own nothing, so should i get a tank to fill with, or just a compressor? I like quality stuff. Is the Daystate 4500 overkill?

I was trying to see the difference in “hp” and other guns. Is it just the barrel and bottle?

Ok, got it,,i think. I am slowly reading Franklinks review thread but not understanding most of it. I am 60 years experienced in gunpowder pushing bullets, but the air guns seem a lot more complicated and need fiddled with a bunch.

I am concerned with accurate and power as i hunt and paper targets only get used to verify zero of the rifle if i happen to miss something i shot at. I like the little carbine, but am starting to believe i will need the long barrel for the power to throw heavier lead. Am i on the right track?

I have a .22 with the long barrel and it is amazing. Shoots the 25.4 pellets at about 950 into 3/4” groups at 90 yards. While I own several other rifles in .25 caliber, I can do about anything with the 25.4s in .22 that I can do with a .25 shooting a flatter trajectory.

@razerface, the above quote seems to answer your question. Leaving you to decide on caliber… The Ghost is a very capable platform, and quite a few owners attest to that within this thread, and more broadly on the AGN forums. Good luck!

Yes you are. But you don’t necessarily need to fiddle too much once you get your tune for velocity and power. My 25 cal target setup with 34 gr jsb is 63 fpe 135 bar pw 7 or 8 i think not sure right now. The ghost is nice and short for hunting but in my opinion handles more like a regular rifle when shooting. Merru Christmas!

When you say coyotes are a possibility that makes me think you'll want the most power possible, which is possible from a longer barrel.

If the majority of your shooting will be less than 50yards, and coon size and below critters, no need for all the power that comes with a longer barrel in .25.

So I guess I'm viewing your decision as between short range/low power/high volume plinking/target practice versus long range and need for high power.

I like my airguns short, just for convenience. A big long gun is a hassle going through doorways and putting in a case and transporting and etc etc etc.

The other thing to consider is ammo cost. As the diameter goes up, so does the price. Smaller calibers are much cheaper to shoot in high volumes. And for me, airguns (over firearns) are all about opening up the possibility of getting to shoot A LOT.

Your decision isn't really Ghost specific, but more of a general comparison that you'll need to make.

To make a powder burner comparison for you a 22 standard velocity cci out of my anschutz makes 89 fpe and travels @ 1000 fps with a 40 gr bullet. My ghost hp 25 makes 63 fpe @ 912 fps with a 34 gr pellet. It has very similar trajectory to the cci out to 100 yds. Does this help?
Oh and I’m not pushing the ghost to max power at those settings
