I bought a used Pathfinder 5-6 weeks ago. It's a great gun shoots 18gr AAs fairly accurately. I carry it in my truck most of the time.
Yesterday I had a chance to run it over a chronograph for the first time. I expected velocity of the 18gr AAs to be something above 800fps. Velocity is actually 745fps with a fps spread of 9fps on 40 shots with these pellets.
Regulator is set at 147bar(I raised it from the 125bar that the original owner had it set at).
The original owner also played with the hammer spring tension, but I adjusted it to 97% of the max velocity which turns out to be 745fps.(velocity with hammer spring tension adjusted for max velocity is 770fps)
My question is....what should the max velocity be on a totally stock Pathfinder using 18gr AAs?
745fps with these pellets might be just right, but I thought is would be over 800fps.
It does shoot 14.3gr CPHPs at just over 800fps.
Oh, and I replaced the breech seal just in case.....you never know if the previous owner of a used gun might have accidentally fired it with the breech open.
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!
