Brocock Atomic XR Back Country Hunt SoCal Style

Beautiful video Jon, I really enjoyed the way you tell a story in a relaxed way and make the viewer feel a part of the hunt. Thanks for the shout out and that was some fantastic shooting on those two squirrels and the Cottontail. I really like those old ranches and agree "if those fences could talk". As far as the Atomic goes I'm sure others skill level is better than mine but for me 65 yards was pushing it as far as what I felt comfortable with on my hunts. Not really interested in wounding animals, the goal is a 100% hit ratio and getting within reasonable range. The beauty of the Atomic is a short, lightweight and versatile gun. I can use it at full power out in the field and then for stuff around the backyard turn it down on the fly. It's no doubt one of the most proven durable airguns on the planet.

Looks like a really nice gun!
For offhanded shots the folding stock is of course a great feature. 👍🏼

However, most of my shots I can field rest the gun somewhere.
So, I'm looking at the Ataman AP16 in .22cal:
How does Atomic XR in pistol configuration stack up against the AP16 (.22cal)?
▪ Size?
▪ Power?
▪ Air supply?

▪ Does the Atomic XR pistol still have the externally adjustable HST, or only in rifle configuration?

A side-by-side comparison would be great!

I get the benefit of the folding stock... 👍🏼

I was not so much interested in a mini carbine (as I find the stock a waste of space, bullpups are more efficient in that department).
➔ I was more interested comparing them in pistol configuration....
And no, not for offhanded pistol shooting, either. (I'm not the Incredible Hulk.) ➔ Fully field rested is the name of the game. 👍🏼

As I need something light and short — that's why the AP16 is in view for the comparsion. 😊

It's what you would expect from an Ataman, gritty cocking next to the Atomic and nowhere near easier to adjust. The Atomic is far more adjustable externally, especially in pistol form. Both are large and awkward pistols to be honest, for me the function over form goes to the Atomic. After surviving everything it's been put through I challenge others to find something as durable...it certainly won't be an Ataman.

How is the stock "a waste of space" if you took it into the field without?
Bull pups more efficient? How did we go from mini carbines to bullpups?

Sorry for not making sense... T'is the hour of the night.... 🤦🏻‍♂️
When shooting a rifle a folding stock adds unnecessary size to a gun — a bullpup avoids that, why I'd consider it "more efficient". ➔ New thread. 👍🏼 😊

Thanks, Dana, for those very helpful pointers! 👍🏼 Sounds really good!
