Brocock Atomic XR in .177

I have been looking for a .177 carbine for backyard pesting and ratting, and the Atomic XR Carbine has caught my eye. Does anyone have experience with this gun in .177 caliber? I’ve seen a few reviews of it in .22, but I’ve got plenty of guns in that caliber. Looking for it specifically in .177. Does anyone have any experience with that particular setup?
Thanks,
Chris

It is exactly the same as .22, I tried one in 177 tuned down to 10fpe and it’s very accurate and quiet with a good moderator. It is surprisingly heavy for its size(not necessarily a bad thing), not quite as short as what I thought from the pictures but still very compact. For reference it is about 1-2 inches shorter than my Dreamline compact….I think. Depending on your backyard size it definitely makes a very nice pester and plinker.

IF you want more compact you have to go to PP750 or PP700 but obviously they are no where near s nice. An AP16 with carbine stock is the nicer Uber compact carbine option. Edgun Layla is a bullpup is shorter but no folding stock.

Reach out to @Blackpaw and @Ghostranger169... They both have owned the Atomic XR in .177, good luck! My Atomic XR is my main pester.

Will do! Your posts on your Atomic have been some of the most informative I’ve read and have influenced this decision quite a bit. Thank you!

@qball, the stoutness of that chassis might give that impression. The chassis gives the Atomic XR a solid feel and the performance...? Backs it all up. But! If you go mounting a huge scope and bipod? Then you definitely will pork up its weight.

P.S. I'm seriously considering another Atomic XR to set up with a Wraith Mini. Strictly as a nighttime pester, I believe the critters would find it an irresistible combo. Just have to sell a few unused powder burners and PCPs.

@Loki_762, I am flattered and glad that my posts on my use of the Atomic XR might have informed your decision. I'm just a regular user who likes to posts, definitely not an "influencer".... @Crosman999's in the field review of the Atomic XR is awesome. Also Steve @AEAC, his review on the Atomic XR is technical and really informative. And recently @Wingman115, posted a sweet back country hunt with his...

Yeah, I’ll be selling a couple things to fund this one as well. But I really only need so many .22s…

L.Leon should be getting a commission. He was a pretty big influence for me getting mine, but mine is .22 so I can’t help you with your .177 question, and I got the Ranger not the Atomic.

I have the wraith mini. But haven’t really deployed it yet for its intended purpose. Not sure I like it as much as I thought I would, for me the jury is still out. It gets very grainy/pixely when you zoom in full zoom.

I recently purchased an Atomic XR .177 from AoA with the Plinker's package. Only intended for backyard bird pesting. Out of the box and already sighted in for 20 yds, it shoots amazingly accurate. My targets are within 15-25 yds and it's almost too easy. What surprises me is that the medium power level is just fine for my needs. I'm using a mix between JSB 10.34's, H&N Barracuda FT 9.57's and the new Benjamin match 10.5's. All 3 perform very well. It's very quiet with the included 0DB moderator and noticeably lower between power levels. I usually top it off after a couple of mags. Sorry I don't have anything to compare it to as it's my first pcp.

What a fine choice for your first, good news that it is pleasantly surprising you. And yes, at the ranges you describe the Atomic will regularly stack them. The pest birds in your backyard are going to be a deadly peril. I am close to two years in with mine and am still totally thrilled with her.
