Brocock Bantam Sniper HR - Information thread

AoA has listed on their site the Brocock Bantam Sniper HP, the HP standing for "high power", I would imagine. It's advertised as a magnum version of the Sniper HR. I called AoA today and as they are just starting to get them in, they didn't have a lot of info on them. The site says up to 45 fpe and 55 fpe for the 22 and 25 calibers, repectively. If my calcs are right, that means the 22 would push the 25.39 grain JSB's around 890 or so, and the 25 caliber 34.95's would lope along around 850. That is some yee-haw right there...serious squirrel medicine.

Hopefully they test one pretty quick as I'm interested to see what it can do.

I could be wrong, but I gather that the Huma Regulator functions better with a little more pressure. You may want to try 145 bar, if you're not happy with the performance.

Slightly higher reg pressure and slightly less hammer spring tension will make hammer cocking easier, as well.

Does everyone de-gas the system prior to decreasing the reg pressure EG screwing in clockwise on the reg? I have been de-gassing based off of a review I watched, it does kind of make sense because there is a chance you can cause the threads of the reg adjustment screw to wear out, and on all of the FX rifles it explicitly states to de-gas prior to turning down the pressure on the reg. I’m just curious to know what everyone else is doing?

Prior to ordering my Bantam Sniper in 22, I contacted DonnyFL and asked him which LDC was best for the rifle. His recommendation was the Koi. I ordered it two months before I got the rifle.

Long story short, my Sniper is the the quietest air rifle I own. It does not make a sound when fired. The only thing the critter knows, is that it is dead.

How about that! Perfect fit, seamless look on the end of the rifle, and deadly quiet!

I’ve experienced this same thing with my new B Sniper (.177). It seems to group really well right before it goes off reg.

I’m trying to understand, if the reg is still on its set point, how can you “group better” right “before” going “off reg”? (Which means you’re still on reg.) In .177 you’re probably getting a huge shot count and “you” the shooter are settling in and getting better groups towards the end.

Hi Guys,

I recently got a Bantam Sniper HR in .22 in New Zealand. I thought I would add to this thread since it has lots of great info and I can add the basic setting my rifle came with.

The reg was set at 135 bar, shooting JSB 15.9gr exacts at 873 fps.

It does not have the hammer spring tension adjuster that some here have talked about. I assume that that is an AoA special? Of interest (to me anyway) is the fact that I can't really get any more power from it. First I tried adjusting the hammer throw screw. If I increased or decreased the throw from the factory setting it lost fps. So I moved on to the only other adjustment possible without modifying the rifle. I increased the reg pressure to 140 bar, same fps, tried the hammer throw again, no more than 870ish fps. I then increased the reg pressure to 145 bar. Now with the hammer throw set to maximum, I get 885 fps.

It's got too dark to do any more tests, but I'm assuming I will need to increase the hammer spring tension to get any more power out of it? I'll try that soon.

The reason I wanted to try a bit more power was due to the way the 18gr jsb heavies were grouping. At 30M they were the best performing pellet, but at 50M the 15.9gr were just beating them and at 70M the 18gr had opened up to 53mm but the 16gr were doing a 20mm group (5 shot groups). I was hoping with a bit more power the 18gr would be accurate out to a longer distance.

I shot these 5 shot groups at 40 yards tonight in the dark with a light attached to my Helos scope. Shooting off bipod with rear bag. 35 degrees, slight breeze. JSB 18s on level 6 for groups 1-3 and AA 16s on level 4 for the last group. All of these groups are covered by a dime.

as a new owner of a .22 bantam sniper “Patagonia”, this thread is invaluable! Took me a while to read through but got some great info. Like some of you, my group at 45 yds is about 1.5 inches with JSB Kings. Kind of frustrating. I tried various power setting, velocity, pellets, cleaned barrel, lighten trigger... haven’t found the sweet spot yet. The gun is relatively hard to cock, which tells me the spring preload is pretty darn heavy. I felt like the gun is wasting a bit of air too, as it felt very unharmonious when fired. 
How many shots do you all think it should take to break this gun in? I have about 200rounds in so far. Also, I have a hex key adjustment for the hammer spring, but I can’t back it out at all. It looks like the retaining grub screw dented some of the threads on the adjustment screw. Did anyone experience that? I did email AOA yesterday, haven’t heard back yet. Might give them a call tomorrow.
