Can't wait to get back outside again tomorrow and launch some Crosman Premier 14.3 grainers (which just arrived today - recommended by bill). These CP pellets look totally different than the usual JSBs and H&Ns... they're really clean, polished and shiny looking!
I backed the hammer tension out to "flush", dialed the Huma reg to 140, lubed the bolt, lightened the trigger to 16 oz.. Rifle cocks really easily. Looking forward to punching some holes, bro! (My Red Wolf is "on break" and righteously jealous of the Bantam Sniper HR.)
Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50 FFP scope is fabulous! I like it much more than my Emerald 5.5-25x50 SFP, which I do like a lot. The reticle size on the FFP is much better than on the SFP and the illumination is waay cool, too. I think well worth the extra bill vs the SFP version.
Now... I want to know about the wood stock option for the Sniper HR!
Gents,
What kind of velocities are you getting out of your 22 caliber Snipers with the 25 grain JSB?
And does anybody have any velocity numbers for the Sniper in 25 caliber?
Thanks,
Justin
Keone,
Thank you much, sir. I thought I read everything there was on this site about the Sniper. Missed that one!
A 25 grainer at 890 is nothing to sneeze at. Especially if you're a ground squirrel!
Have you done any shooting with the power setting turned down? If so, what where your reults?
Thanks,
Justin
From a Bantam Sniper HR in .22 caliber, you could expect a 25 gr pellet to fly at around 730 fps. Extremely effective match to a ground squirrel.
So I got one of these a few weeks ago and man I was not getting good accuracy results. I was seeing flyers all over. I chronographed it yesterday and I was seeing a standard deviation of 9ish after 10 shots with an average of 858FPS with an 18gr. I swore the regulator was bad but I kept fiddling with it.
Long story short after disassembling and inspecting the reg screw, hammer spring and slingshot, in order to fix this I ended up having to adjust the reg from 125 to around 135 and I had to dial in the hammer spring screw about a half a turn. That seemed to work because I am now seeing a standard deviation of 3ish. Has anyone else experienced this? I did loctite the hammer spring screws as suggested. I’m just a little disappointed that I had to do this much work on a brand new gun.
