When I first got my .22 HR magnum the reg gauge read 160-163. Several thousand pellets later it reads 170-175ish.
When the main gauge gets to just under 180 it falls of the reg. At least I think it does. According to my chrony the velocities go up slightly for the next 3-4 shots and then drop like a rock. With some pellets accuracy suffers at this point, with others it doesn't.
I have not altered it in any way. Get 53-55 shots on power level six and 110-115 on power level one from a 250 bar fill.
If the truth be known I bet neither gauge is accurate within 10-15psi, hopefully they are consistent.
Maybe they just need to break in.
