Brocock Ghost

Specs seem to be right in line with the Alpha which is nice. The fine adjustment for HS is nice.

The balanced valve is very nice to see.

I wonder about reg pressure and output. One of the things which put me off to Brocock is when I got my Sniper XR I had to set the reg to 150 bar just to get 30 fpe out of .22. I found this very disappointing.

In. 25 Cal I would have expected 70 - 80 shots per fill..... Not 30!

In the video of AoA the accuracy of. 25 Cal with JSB 34 grain the accuracy is as expected. But I would like to see the performance with slugs.

For hunting purposes power is important but should include the expansion factor provided by the slugs.

FX M3 and Maverick could win in shots per fill with similar accuracy and power....

So, my first thoughts right out of the gate after watching all the videos.

It looks to be there FX Impact competitor.
- They ditched the inside the trigger safety (Good)
- External hammer spring adjuster (Good)
- External reg adjuster (Good)
- Ditched the need for a probe and went Foster (Good) I never minded the probe)
- Dual magazine capable (cool feature)

Now my cons.
- No place to add a rear sling ( I see there is a small Pic rail on the toe of the stock to potential add a rail mounted QD sling mount, but that's really geared toward a rear Monopod.
- The use of AK style grips. That's a poor choice as there is Wayyyyy more AR style grips offered then AK. C'mon UK, we won the Cold war, lets show it...
- No transfer port adjuster to allow for lower speed basement shooting.
- Still only one Magazine with the gun. for the price (I'm guessing close to $2k) that's a cheap move, especially with the two mag configuration designed into the gun.

They definitely are going after the FX full power market and multi caliber market. Too me this is more of a bench gun then a hunter, based off the design.
I'm still pretty impressed and will be watching it closely to see how it's received. I think Brocock did some good homework on this design, a few minor misses, but no deal breakers. Looking forward to some other reviews.

yeah seen jarreds video not many shots but he was pushing 33gr at 950 i always thought they were air hogs my snipper was terrible with the air like you said had to use very high reg presure like the looks of it as who wouldnt looks like a impact really

More in-depth information, photos, and ongoing review here....

Are you serious?

Really the Prophet 2 covers all that?
Ghost is more refined than a Prophet, and not just by a little bit.

Edit: noticed you said Prophet 2. No experience on the gen 2 Prophets so I should clarify that a Ghost is more refined than the original Prophet.

Old style vs. newer style
Trigger on the Ghost is neither of these, although more similar to the left than the right.

On the .177 Ghost, it'll do 900fps with 10.34gr pellets with a reg pressure of 90 bar. Not apples to apples but a data point nonetheless. Hopefully they'll get me a .22 barrel kit and I'll eventually be able to report performance in that caliber as well.

To expound on the last question, it shares the plenum arrangement and size with the DW/AW so it's MUCH more volume than the Sniper. Getting power at lower pressure will not be a problem. At 147 bar, I'm able to send 22 MRDs at 940 or 25 King Heavies at 900 with no problem. I'm not really interested in slugs, so can't answer questions about that.
It shares barrels with the DW/AW so 25 cal is 1 in 30 and 22 will have 1 in 17 or 1 in 30 available. I do not know how difficult caliber change kits will be to acquire but AoA should be able to answer that.

Moose shot an 1-1/2” group at fifty yards not sure if it’s the wind or the tune. I’d like to see more groups.
The example I'm reviewing in the link I shared a few posts back seems to be able to keep 5 shot groups all touching at 30 yards. 10 shot groups at 50 or 55 yards are averaging around 0.7-0.8inches with a couple of the best 10 shot/50 yard groups being under 0.4inches.. That's with JSB 10.34gr pellets.

Is the tuning for velocity all done by adjusting the regulator pressure and then fine-tuning for harmonics through the power wheel?
Other than projectile weight, there are three ways to tune for velocity: regulator pressure, hammer spring tension (power wheel), and adjustment of the hammer stroke/travel.

That harmonics word gets tossed around quite a bit. but I'm not sure it's a word that belongs in a discussion of the Ghost. The Ghost's barrel is supported throughout the length of the backbone/chassis. For example, on the configuration that I have, only a few inches of the 17inch barrel extends past the solid aluminum frame of the gun. Within that frame, in three different locations, are orings, centering the barrel inside the billet alum chassis. And two of those orings are small cross-section, so there's not much viton between the barrel and the frame. Furthermore, the mounting screw (or rather BOLT) is relatively large, with small tolerances. In short, the barrel starts out as a solid steel barrel (not thin walled liner) and is further supported by a rigid backbone, for much of its length. Harmonics always makes me think resonance (which a less worry-inducing word for vibrate), and there's just not much opportunity for anything to resonate in the Ghost with all that support.
