Brocock Sniper XR Oppinions?

Some 5 shot groups at 40m were pretty tight and it is set at 16,5J only

I'll chime in here with some controversial comments. Full disclosure, I have both an HR and an XR magnum in.22, so I must like em.
I'll stick to the XR because that's you concern.
The good.....
Almost all good. The weight, comfort, balance, fit and finish are fantastic, really, probably the most comfortable gun I own. Accuracy is amazing, out shoots most of my rifles and I have some seriously accurate rifles.

The bad....
I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, but the trgger is a sour point. It's not a two stage. It's a single stage with take up built into the trigger mechanism. The take up does not mean more sear engagement during first stage, as in a true two stage trigger. So if you like it light, you'll be carrying a gun with very little sear engagement. Since these guns are capable of amazing long range accuracy, I like mine light, BUT, you have to be careful when cocking it as if handled rough, it might fire. It's that or adjust for more engagement and much worse trigger. It can be good but you just have to accept the care involved. I love the precision designed into trigger, but the overall design is not well thought out (for an airgun) and should not be allowed to be called two stage. I don't mean this as bashing, but I do think airgun buyers expecting a trigger similar to other two stage trigger guns should be aware of the difference, which is more akin to a powder burner trigger. No single stage trigger can be as refined and light as a true two stage trigger and remain safe. On this rifle the safety only blocks the trigger, leaving the sear lever free to be bumped off its engagement. Had it blocked the sear, you could have lighter triggers on them.
Having voiced my concerns, I must say, I use mine adjusted very light and am careful when cocking to not point it anywhere it might hurt something and I carry it very little cocked.
I've shot 100 yard 2" groups with amazing regularity, and mine has the lowest ES of any gun I own, usually in the 4-7 fps zone for a full 50-55 shot string, that's why I keep it!

@bchannell: Very good observations. I agree with your assessment of this weapon.
I was surprised at the trigger as well. It was advertised as 2 stage, but it is not a true 2 stage.
That being said, it is still a very good trigger. With a little work, I was able to adjust it to the point that it was light and crisp.
It is still safe to hunt with. I had to give up a little to keep it safe for handling, but I am fine with that.
Accuracy is VERY good. Looking forward to hitting squirrel woods later this month.

Anyone with a Brocock Sniper XR chime in? I'm looking at the .22 calibur will it shoot pelets and slugs with out having to swap things out? Is it easy to tune? How's the quality compared to a FX? Have you had any issues with it? How accurate is it out to 100yd? What's the diffrence between this and the Magnum? Is the Magnum woth the extra cost?

Just looking to plink, field and target shoot from 25-100yds. Looking for accuracy, adjustibiltiy and durability I guess would be my top 3 primary options.
I have two sniper magnums in 22 HR and XR. They both shoot great at 40 yards with JBS redesigned 25.39 pallets, dime size holes, 10 shots. With 20.3 slugs the holes open up to a nickel.

The rattle can hydrodipping is pretty easy......control water temp around 70, spray the colors you want, swirl just a little with something like a long nail and dip. Don't overdo the paint. It doesn't take a lot. Probably the most important thing is prepping the stock....wipe down with alcohol and don't touch it with bare hands.

The stock was just the factory black plastic stock. I sprayed it quickly with the black paint I used for the hydrodip to get a base layer. After the hydrodip dryed, I spray with a couple layers of clearcoat for durability. All of the stocks that I've done like this have held up really well over the years.

Here's some photos of some others I've done. I prefer to make my guns unique rather than go with the plain old black plastic. That said, I do have some walnut stocks that I'd never touch.

I really like the colors you used on the Taipan . Nice.

Are the Brococks a semi bullpup ?

I have (3) 22cal. Brococks, a Bantam HR, a Sniper HR, and a new Sniper XR Sahara. I also have an FX Crown mrk1. in 22cal. I rarely shoot the Crown since I got the Brococks. I must say I think the FX has a slightly better trigger and maybe a slight advantage in accuracy but I personally like shooting the Brocock much better. I'm a lefty and the brococks are much more comfortable for me. Power seems similar with both. I also the the Brococks are easier to get dialed in and shoot better right out of the box than the FX. Quality in MY opinion is too close to call.

Until I bought my Katran, my Sniper HR was my all time favorite rifle, and I've had more fun with it than any other airgun of any type I've ever had. It fits so well, shoots so well, gets plenty of shots, has good power, is easy to tune, looks fantastic, isn't pellet fussy, what can I say? Great trigger, more consistent than most other regulated guns, yatta, yatta, yatta. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I haven't talked to a single soul who's owned one that didn't like it. I have more confidence in it, (and now the Katran), at 100 yards, than any other airgun Ive yet tested.
