Brocock

Don't believe ANY of the hype about ANY of the guns. Read, watch, study ,and ask.

Every $ you don't overspend on overpriced rifles, you can buy pellets

Shoot on!

I guess all the AGN user contributions according to you are? All HYPE? Why is that? Is it what you do, hype? Or are you the sole, sincere voice in AGN?

Pretty sure @keyman62421 was just saying to form your own opinion. Do your homework. Keep an open mind but be well informed. Which is what we should all strive for.

With that in mind, I have passed on obtaining many guns (especially Turkish guns) and have declined to deal with many people, be it for services (or lack of) or goods. It is always good to be well educated.

Hostility isn't called for.

That said, brococks are good guns. Maybe someone that owns that gun and caliber combo can chime in.

I own a Sniper HP in 25 cal with no issues for 2+ years. I have it set to mid-power and it shoots JSB 25 grain pellets at 925 FPS very accurately. I've also owned a Brocock Bantam .22 for over 5 years and it's been a excellent gun. Very accurate with only one O-ring failure to date, on the fill port fitting.

Doesn't see to me like Keyman62421 was directing his comments at anybody, just providing generic information to help the O.P. I've found his posts rather helpful in the past, personally. He is direct - and that doesn't always fly well with some folks. But he is also accurate.

Speaking of the O.P., maybe let us know why you have chosen .25 cal over, for example, .22 cal for your new gun? As L.Leon said above, you might be better served with the magnum version of the Sniper, depending on your intended use. .25 cal can have heavier hitting power, and it can at times fight wind better, but many times given the choice I will take a .22 cal which can shoot the 25.4's well over a .25 cal which can also shoot the 25.4's well. Smaller cross sectional area in the .22 cal version of the same weight pellet, so has a bit better ballistic coefficient.

I've had magnum Snipers in both .22 and .25 cal. All have been robust and 'hunting' accurate guns. Some have had really good triggers, while with others I have not been able to get them to my desired lightness. To me they are generally not as bullseye/target accurate as something like a Red Wolf or a Crown, but that just may be due to how my body size/style interacts with the 'semi-bullpup' stock (although I will say that my .177 Sniper XR standard power was a real tack driver on a wind-free day, and had an excellent trigger).

At the price they are currently listed on AoA's web site ($1,299, std power with syn stock), I think that they are real bargains. Heck, that is $100 less than I paid for my first one, and that was back in 2020 prior to the subsequent price increases which have impacted all air guns.

I have a Brocock Concept XR in .25,it fits me great though the lever action is on the wrong side..Brococks can be thought of as overpriced as are 4Runners.

I think my Brocock as a truck gun, as it is built solid and not frail as some of the other PCP.

If you are a hunter or just banging and blinking a Brocock is hard to beat;it is light!

Indeed, take your time,do your research and Define your goals as to what will make you happy.

Couldn’t stay in bed, have to work.🙂 I also didn’t say I was “better”. I don’t “hype” anything. Just post my experience in use, that is all. You haven’t read where I’ve written, “buy this or buy that.” Just post my experience, that’s it...

New new to the air gun thing, looking at the Brocock sniper in .25 cal. anyone from northwest Ohio. Any advice is welcome. Thanks Eric

@eevans First off, welcome to the sport/hobby. I’ve been shooting a .25 Brocock Bantam Sniper HR for about a year. I’m a hunter and I’ve taken a few animals with this rifle. It isn’t my go-to hunting rifle because I can’t bring myself to drag it through the brush, so I don’t see myself regularly woods walking with it. It is very pleasing to the eye to me. I really enjoy recreational shooting with this rifle. My .25 Bantam Sniper HR is really accurate and not too heavy. Quality build and I don’t regret purchasing it. Tuning is relatively easy. I also like the fact that I can adjust the velocity of my shots with the turn of a knob.

Mine is a bolt action and I’m not the biggest fan of the bolt after seeing and using side lever actions on other guns. Also when you get the .25 it is my understanding that you don’t get to take advantage of the slingshot hammer system that is in the .22 Bantam Sniper. I honestly forget the details of the benefits of it so I won’t try to stumble my way through what I recall reading about it. Another thing that I don’t like concerns maintaining my Brocock. When it comes to maintenance I have encountered issues with Brocock as a company. In my experience and observation the company goads consumers to spend money to send their gun(s) back to them or authorized dealers for maintenance and repairs as opposed to consumers attempting some of their own repair and maintenance work. This is done primarily via control of information. I do not appreciate this practice. I state the latter as a personal observation. Perhaps it’s something to keep in mind before you consider purchasing an airgun.

My Advice....

Don't rush in...take your time and watch every video/ review on what your interested in. Read every article..

I spent months doing that, While I socked away cash.

Built a list of things you want/like and a list you don't like, I built a spread sheet and added weights, length's, max fill pressures, where the safeties are located, etc. of at least 4-5 different guns I liked.

Thought abought how I was going to fill the gun. A pump?...A small compressor? A large bottle filling compressor? Where will I get air short term,vs. long.

I learned a lot from my first PCP and incorporated that knowledge to fill in the blanks od "Don't know what you don't know"

Factor in what I want to do. Am I a target shooter? Outdoor only? Will I want to shoot 10m in the basement during the winter? Will I want to hunt?

So having adjustable power settings come into play. A lightweight and shorter field gun vs. a longer, heavier range/basement/target gun.

I chose the Brocock as it checked the majority of my boxes. I wanted .22 as I like the caliper, the price and availability vs, other calibers.

Liked the length and weight for hunting.

Liked the variable power modes to shoot indoors.

Wanted the side lever action and the magazine design and quality.

Lothar Walther barrel has a well deserved rep.

Some loved the triggers...others hated it. Being fully adjustable, I got it to my liking very quick.

Only thing I didn't like was the safety design and location, but I knew that going in due to all the research I did up front. Turned out to not be that bad.

Am I happy? Absolutely, it was everything I expected and more, the quality was very good due to there rep. The accuracy exceeded my expectation.

I can recommend it whole heartily. But you have to make the final choice, based off of how many boxes it checks for you.

I've been shooting over 40 years, So I rely a lot on my own experiences. And fill in the few blanks with research.

Hey Eric,

Welcome to the forum. I am a fellow Buckeye too and live just north of Marion. I’ve owned a couple Brococks. They are very robust and well made rifles. Both of mine were .22s and were tack drivers. I doubt you would be disappointed in one of it’s your first pcp.

Disliking a gun based on a British name? Only accurate guns are interesting, so a sexy name on an inferior product appeals to who? They could name them, Mud, and they would still be bad-arse, robust and reliable PCPs across their entire line up. But I can see where the name might make some giggle.😜 I know I do, every time I'm smoking a pest or hitting what I aim at consistently without drama, point and shoot.

Thanks for all the replies, I retired after 30 years in the Air Force Security Forces so I have a lot of shooting experience, just not air rifles . I am left handed and been reviewing air rifle brands for awhile, from reviews quality and from origin. I like what I see with Brocock name, in the 1500 range. I was stationed at greenham common AFB in England for 2 years in the 80,s. I have a lot of respect for the Englishmen

Not necessarily the gun itself but just the name. I would rather not have to explain the brand name when someone ask me about my airgun at the range and as you already know it’s not a hot spot for hot chicks. So when some manly tacticool dude come up and ask about my Airgun it is rather uncomfortable to explain the BroCock name. If one day for whatever reason all the patrons at the range changed to hot women then you bet your money I would be getting the biggest gun BroCock makes, might even black out the Bro part. 😂🤣🤣

for your use I think BroCock will work awesome because every time you smoke an invader from England you can smug knowing the invader got wrecked by your BroCock!
