I was able to find a good deal on a used Browning Leverage under lever in .177 caliber. It needed some cleaning and TLC but it cleaned up nicely. I was able to get it out today and do some groups and was pretty impressed for a backyard plinker. I was able to put 15 shots into a 3/4” group at 20 yds. I was using the ever popular Crosman 7.9 gr HP. I like using these pellets because they are so easily obtained and shoot fairly well in just about anything. I averaged 917 FPS across my F1 chrony. This gave me close to 15 ft lbs of energy.
This isn’t the smoothest rifle I have ever shot but it’s definitely a fun rifle to shoot. Easy to load with very little cocking effort. Trigger is a tad under 3lbs and doesn’t appear to be adjustable but has a good feel. This springer has some “twang” to it but is smooth and easy to stay on target. It came with a 3x9x40 Browning scope with adjustable objective. It’s definitely a better scope than a lot of optics that come with air rifles.
Don’t overlook used air rifles, they can be just as good as a new one and you get the satisfaction of breathing new life into an older rifle.
