BSA Meteor Super?

For $299 it isn't a bad deal. Personally I think they should be closer to $250 but thats neither here nor there. $300 shipped is still a fair price. They're fairly accurate and the shot cycle is pretty sweet. Its a Gamo trigger so if you're expecting a great trigger, stop right there. It isn't. It is pretty consistent though so not all bad.

What it does do great is shoulder. That gun just falls into your shoulder and balances very well. Don't expect to use the iron sights though. The comb is entirely too high for them but its perfect for a scope. The fit and finish of the gun is nice and much better than its Gamo counterparts. The pivot tension is also adjustable which is something you don't get with the Gamos.

Here's the really disappointing part though, and this may just be mine. My gun smoked forever when new. I kept shooting it, and about 500 shots in it got really bad. I tore it down and sure enough the piston seal had been split during install at the factory. Luckily I had a spare TX200 piston seal handy which was a direct fit. The gun is easy enough to work on but you will want a spring compressor to do so.

I'll find out in a few days as I just ordered one in .22 caliber. Charles

Well, I'm a little wiser. I'd do something to improve it. ;)
I have 50 springers, most of which are already excellent. A sub par trigger here and there isn't going to kill me. Shoot, I have a Hatsan 95 with a 3.5lb trigger that can almost keep up with the best of them. A Sig ASP with a nearly 2lb trigger that absolutely will keep up with the best of them. Some people require match triggers on every gun they own. Others like a little variety in their pellet pooters. To each their own.

Did it come in yet? How do you like it?
I'm not sure yet, as I spent over two hours trying to sight it in with supplied sights. It would never seem to hold zero and the problem could be me. So I've added a BSA scope and, hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'll give it another test. Charles

Spent about 1 1/2 hours shooting the BSA with a scope and once sighted in it was grouping very well, however after about 30 shots the point of impact shifted up about an inch at 10 yards. Reset and shot about 100 pellets and all seems ok. The trigger is fine and one thing I really like is that I can cock it one handed. I have sever that are two handed to cock. As of now I'm happy with the rifle. Only time will tell. Charles
