Hi guys 

I need a little help. This is a great rifle, but it cracks a lot, the guys at the range are complaining, about the loud noise that is coming from my rifle. Now I;m not looking for a silencer, I am looking for a 1/2" Unf shroud extension, about 2 - 3 inches long. I've been looking all over the internet, nothing. The shroud on my rifle is .920

Please if any one knows where to find something like this, it will be much appreciated.

I dont know how it works in Canada but here in the US if you screw it onto the end it would be considered a silencer not a shroud extension. Of course its ok in the US to do that because airguns are not regulated like firearms here. The R10 doesnt have a reflex type shroud so no air moves down the shroud it only has baffles past the muzzle. You could either get new internals for the factory shroud to make it quieter or buy a complete new custom shroud that works better. If you are comfortable with modding things you could probably even mod the factory shroud into a reflex type and that would make a big improvement.

Does the Canadian version even come with baffles in the shroud? 

I know nothing about Canadian law but surely any device with baffles that screws onto the barrel would be the same from a legal point of view?

I can't see it making a noticeable difference without baffles. 

It's odd that you have problems with noise at a shooting range. Aren't you there with people shooting powder burners? Maybe you could tell them to wear hearing protection instead.

He's in Canada. He is saying he isn't allowed anything with baffles.

He wants to make it quieter without making it quieter.

I shoot mine in my back yard all the time.... no complaints yet...

It sounds like the Canadian one is sold without baffles so it's likely a lot louder than your one. Canada (or diet America as I call them) has their own set of air gun laws which are a good bit stricter than ours.

The shroud extension for the FX rifles are extra baffles which is why they make it quieter. 

Extending an empty shroud is unlikely to make a dent in the noise. 

I don't know how the Canadian law is worded but in the States, legally, a "Silencer" is a device that reduces the report by even 1db for one shot (on a firearm). If the Canadian law also applies to air guns then a shroud extension might be illegal there anyway?

If you can legally add a shroud extension without any baffles, then I'd suggest getting an extension in a larger diameter. Even without baffles an extension with sufficient volume should quiet things down.

To give you an idea of the potential benefits, just slip an empty plastic water bottle on the end. Drill out the appropriate diameter on the cap, so it can slip over the end of the shroud (make sure to wrap your shroud with something, so the plastic cap doesnt mar your finish). Also make sure you drill a hole on the bottom of the bottle for the pellet to pass through (make it significantly larger than the pellet size to ensure it doesnt clip).

You'll have to hold/prop up the bottle with something to keep it aligned while you test fire (be safe!!!). I did this with a crosman 1322 and it was the quietest airgun ive ever heard (or didnt hear haha). Of course the water bottle has massive volume, but it'll illustrate how effective a large diameter, no baffle design can perform.
